Samuel L. Jackson will never win a competitive Oscar, so good for him to win at least one.June 24, 2021 at 1:15 pm #1204316634
Harrison Ford truly deserved as well. He is the King of Franchises, which is what’s dominating Hollywood today. He started that trend.June 24, 2021 at 4:49 pm #1204316794
Just glad Danny is getting his due.June 24, 2021 at 7:34 pm #1204316943
Danny Glover deserved an Oscar nod for The Color Purple. The fact that it lost all of its 11 nominations still pisses me off.June 24, 2021 at 8:45 pm #1204317022
Yeah, I’m not sure if that will ever happen.
The film or his Oscar? Because the film is going to get made after the Broadway run. Who knows, he could win a Tony and an Oscar for it. It wouldn’t be the first time someone wins after being awarded an Honorary Oscar.June 24, 2021 at 10:52 pm #1204317098
I don’t think it’s a problem that SLJ can potentially still win a competitive Oscar after this. He could’ve easily deserved to win for Jungle Fever, Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained.June 25, 2021 at 12:05 am #1204317168
Glover, finally! Should have a f*cking statue already for To Sleep with Anger. What a picture.
Similarly, both May and Ullmann should have won competitive Oscars at this point. Ishtar should have swept the screenplay categories in its year and of course Ullmann gave at least a dozen worthy performances over the years. Good year for the Honoraries!June 25, 2021 at 1:31 am #1204317193
Awesome choices!June 26, 2021 at 6:59 am #1204319112

I’m new here, but I was looking at that Oscar year recently and it’s not inconceivable that The Color Purple might have been runner-up in all 10 of its nominated categories (with Oprah Winfrey likely being ahead of Margaret Avery in supporting actress).
On the topic of the thread, great choices for the honorary awards.
