Spencer is a flop. Just read this: “Stranger still is what happened to Neon’s “Spencer.” Third week, Neon dropped “Spencer” from 311 theaters. After all the time and money that’s been put into Kristen Stewart for Best Actress as Princess Diana, the studio is letting the air out of the tires!” I don’t know if that’ll hurt Kristen chances, but it’s something to consider.

It’s a great film (imo), but after I watched it, I knew this wouldn’t be something that really caught on with audiences. I mean, its scores on RT kind of say it all.

The narrative around Kristen is much more about her performance than the success of the movie so I don’t think the movie bombing will mean much. Gaga has more pressure on her back because of who she is as a cultural force so success of the movie will be tied to her chances.

Also, I just got home from seeing the movie (local theater played it this morning for some reason?). Trying to collect my thoughts lol.

“Evaporate, and leave us cinephiles alone.” 😭

This isn’t the best actress thread. Your comment doesn’t belong here

I don’t like you, but I’d never tell you this unless you quoted me. That happened, you quoted me now. A few days ago, I saw you quoting a member here asking him why he never replies to your quotes. Such an inconvinient thing to do. Maybe he doesn’t like you, just like I don’t.

Well it means something because trying to retain your so-called frontrunner status for four months with a movie hated and quickly forgotten by everyone who’s not a critic is kind of a tall ask. Pulling the movie from theatre so soon also brings into question how much resource Neon is willing to put forth for the campaign.

There’s truly never been a frontrunner in recent memory that’s got so much stacked against her.

still thinking of the movie lol

its weird that its so long yet it feels like its rushing the story

there’s no way of knowing that it goes through 3 decades, it looks like, maybe a year

Thats been predicted on the forums for long. Hope it could at least get a 61 on metacritic just to go green lol.
However a light fresh on RT is more likely even if the rotten is what most are expecting.

I’m so bummed (for a few reasons). I was unable to see the advance screening although I really wanted to. On the way there I was in a car accident (I’m fine, but my car is totaled.) Hopefully, I’ll be able to see it after Thanksgiving. I can’t wait. So much real life stuff in the way, but man… I want to see this movie. Love reading all the praise that Adam Driver is getting as more reactions are coming out.
