To objective members of this forum, how do reviews seem so far? Is it more a case of “polarized” i.e. critics either love this thing or hate it?
or more “meh”/lukewarm?
November 27, 2021 at 3:28 pm #120460970482% positive from Comscore’sPostTrak theatre polling 87% on verified RT Clearly the audiences loved this movie, especially when Licorice Pizza, the highest rated movie by the critics this year, only received 87% in Comscore. It’s really sad that the critics decided to tear it down. This should’ve at least gotten high 60s on MC.
Yeah, people will see later critics went too hard on this one when they were soft on a ton of movies that had the same issues and problems as HoG. Including Oscar contenders.
This. The things are looking very good for this movie and Lady Gaga either way, no matter how much unfair critics were or how much certain pundits tried to bring this movie down, the box office numbers and audience approval are making more noise, this is the most successful Adult drama in a Pandemic of this year and as Sasha Stone pointed out being able to fill cinema seats with Oscar kind of audience and open a movie is a big deal for Lady Gaga.

It’s definitely polarizing, reading the reviews but also the reactions we got, it’s like people watched 2 different movies for the majority.

This movie is divisive. Some people will love it and some people will hate it. The critics were fair and I might even say they were generous; they rightfully criticized the parts that didn’t work but praised what did (Gaga). Critics are critics; they pay attention to details and technical stuff that most general audiences don’t care about. The movie is flawed on crucial things (editing, screenplay, sound design, some directional aspects) but Gaga saves it with her charm. If this movie didn’t have Gaga in it, it would get panned. People who are into Gaga and her acting style are going to like this because she steals the scene. People who don’t care about her that much are prone to notice the film’s flaws more than her charm.
November 27, 2021 at 8:39 pm #1204610004#HouseOfGucci has become one of the rare dramas to connect with older audiences during the pandemic era, cementing the box office appeal of Lady Gaga three years after the resounding success of “A Star Is Born.” https://t.co/kDPdYcKb0a

November 27, 2021 at 9:25 pm #1204610050People have such tasteful ideas of what good acting is these days: the longer I think about it, the more I value how HOUSE OF GUCCI embraces opulence of performance as well as aesthetic. Longer thoughts below. https://t.co/trQ1r9sEKw

November 28, 2021 at 12:46 am #1204610138I’m actually shocked Guy liked it at all. He’s usually quite shady.
November 28, 2021 at 3:27 am #1204610256I just had a quick look at “House of Gucci” audience scores in MC and most people give it a 10 if they liked it or a 0 if they didn’t! That’s so basic, LOL! 😂

Yeah initially some taylor stans were trying to review bomb it. So then I saw some Gaga twitter accounts asking people to counter it. And now it just became super unreliable.
That’s why I don’t take anything unverified seriously.
November 28, 2021 at 5:13 am #1204610321Verified audience on rotten is 85% and IMDB who has 9K votes (it’s obviously not just stans) is 7.0, so Metacritic audience would have been positive like that more or less either way, I don’t think it’s just stans voting there now.
November 28, 2021 at 7:07 am #1204610451how many of these are “monsters” though? I saw it with a group of five and everyone thought it was pretty mediocre.
The stans here refuse to believe there are everyday people who may have not liked this movie very much. This feeds the narrative that the critics are wrong so they’ll dismiss your group of friends opinions.
I also think that critics/reviewers often looks at movies with a different eyes and perspective. Everyday people often times don’t notice flaws and small details. I noticed that I’m able to point out certain things like a editing issues, music choices, script issues among other things that catch my eye in movies but others around me don’t catch it until I was able to point it out.

We know a lot of people dislike the movie. It seems that some you are the ones who can’t accept a lot of people actually like it.

Yes. No one is denying that, and that percentage seems to be around 13-18% according to verifiable reliable data that was aggregated. You can be denial about it if you want. I mean half of the country still think the election was stolen despite any numbers/data you throw at them. So I wouldn’t be surprised.
