Congrats to Gaga. I would love to see what kind of offers she’s getting now.

This result along with the raves she received for her performance truly seals the deal for her as A+ list actress proving ASIB wasn’t a fluke, she will keep having tones of offers from the most prestigious people in the business, with also a big difference, she’s not full time actress like Margot or Emma that does 2-3 movie at year, with doing less projects at time, every movie of her will be an event, even if she does an A24 indie movie.

Really enjoyed this. Jared Leto would be the worst performance I’ve ever seen nominated for an Oscar. Especially a shame that he’s doing whatever he’s doing in it because it’s a great part that another actor could have nailed. Also because the rest of the cast does a great job. Gaga is a true movie star and you can’t take your eyes off her. Driver grounds the film perfectly. Definitely overlong but the kind of film I will watch again.

In terms of audience reactions, the IMDb rating is only 7.0 (enough with 9,000+ votes) so I doubt it’s really beloved by general audience.

7.0 is pretty low for a drama. TLD got an 7.7. Not to mention we have passed the early “Gaga haters review bomb” phase.

Just saw it. Went in pretty excited and was expecting it to be a camp fun time if nothing else. Was surprised that in fact it was a quite serious, and dare I say boring, film. Around the hour and a half mark I had to really fight to not go to sleep. The most interesting aspect of the entire film was the relationship between  Patrizia and Maurizio Gucci (and what she eventually does to him), but the film seems to want to focus more on the business details of Gucci which are just…not that dramatically compelling.

Gaga is good, but the raves are a bit much. She’s much better in this role than she was in A Star is Born, where she came off as pretty amateurish when she wasn’t singing. If she wins for this though, it’ll be because competition is pretty weak this year (at least among the performances that are getting the most buzz). I think she had some meaty material towards the end as Patrizia descends into madness that she didn’t dig into as much as a better actor would have. She also weirdly disappears for a lot of the later half of the movie which I didn’t expect. A nomination is really as far as she should get.

We already know what people think. 85% verified rotten tomatoes and B+ cinemascore. IMDB and letterboxed are nice indicators, but they’re not based on verified attendance.

I just saw it for the second time. HOUSE OF GUCCI is really a comedy. A dark comedy. I didn’t love it(I still prefer THE LAST DUEL over HOUSE OF GUCCI) but it really was a new thing for Ridley Scott. Very impressive for Any Director to do a new thing at 84 years old. Still, I’m more excited for KITBAG and GLADIATOR PART II because Epics are always His Greatest Movies. About Lady Gaga: She is the new DiCaprio. Lady Gaga proved she can open ANY movie like only DiCaprio and The Rock

About Lady Gaga: She is the new DiCaprio.

Speaking of which, I would like to see them together in a movie.

I do think this movie is flawed, but it still deserves recognition from the Academy for Best Makeup, Costume Design and nominations for Gaga in Best Actress and Pacino for Supporting Actor. The audience reception being greater than the critical reception makes me hopeful that House of Gucci will have enough supporters in the Academy to get some nominations. I think critics are going too hard on this film tbh.

Please, 7.0 is absolutely quite good on IMDB for a divisive drama, ASIB is 7.6 for example.

One thing I hate about this movie existing is that it seems to have invited a consensus that Gaga didn’t deserve to be nommed for ASIB. Even her fans themselves are using that as way to show how much she’s grown as an actress to be deserving for this movie. For my money, Gaga earned those raves and that nomination and if she wasn’t seen as a pop star it wouldn’t be in question.

The screenwriter of #HouseOfGucci  said in an interview that Lady Gaga voiceover should be present throughout the film. Ridley Scott decided otherwise.
The original script was 150 pages long. The final result contains 135.

yes, people always want to say Gaga is overrated or underlay her success. I saw somebody freaking out about the Variety article that called her one of the rare movie/music stars. They said 2 movies doesn’t prove that and mentioned Whitney, so I was like oh yeah and how many nominations did Whitney get?? They never answered lol
