100/1 odds I locked in early:

I, Tonya in Picture (now 20/1)

I hope at least some of these come true! Fingers crossed.

1/100 predictions, includes those I had predicted when they were 1/100 but no longer are.

    I, Tonya in Best Picture

Sean Baker in Best Director (I also have McDonagh at 1/50)

Woody Harrelson in Best Supporting Actor

Sebastian Stan in Best Supporting Actor

    Wonder in Best Adapted Screenplay

I, Tonya in Best Original Screenplay

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri in Cinematography

    I, Tonya in Costume Design

Murder On the Orient Express in Production Design

You Shouldn’t Look At Me That Way in Best Original Song

Beauty and the Beast in Sound Mixing

In This Corner of the World in Animated Feature

Ex Libris: The New York Public Library in Documentary

So tempted to add Judi Dench in Best Actress, Kristin Scott Thomas in Supporting Actress, Denzel Washington in Best Actor, Michael Shannon in Supporting Actor, Last Flag Flying in Adapted Screenplay, Phantom Thread in Cinematography, Dunkirk in Costume Design, Ghost in the Shell in Makeup, Downsizing in Production Design, Life Smartphone in Animated Short. But I won’t because I don’t wanna look stupid. I’m writing them so I can take credit and regret if they were to get nominated, lol.

I want to believe there are enough people in the Documentary branch who know Frederick Wiseman and his importance to take the (maybe only ever) chance to give him a nod. He’d never even been shortlisted before, so even though a lot of what we know about this branch might point in the direction of an Ex Libris snub, I kind of think it will get nominated out of respect for the man. I’m pretty sure that documentary short about Claude Lanzmann a few years ago made it through because Lanzmann is so iconic, not because they liked it.

@eastwest , I am Tiffany Haddish’s biggest stan on this website, but I am not predicting her to get nominated because I don’t have the courage. What is your reasoning?

It’s most likely foolish and I know the Oscars aren’t the Emmys where one of the presenters are usually nominated, but something tells me that someone wanted to create a moment and looked at the nominations early and saw her. Again, highly unlikely and foolish, but it could happen.

Oh look, Jessica Chastain has fallen to 100/1, so there is another one for me.  Everyone but the consensus five is rightfully 100/1 in that category now.  Denzel Washington is now 100/1 as well, so that is another for me.  The acting categories are going to kill my predictions, in case that was unclear.

I think you have a lot of long shots that are going to seem impressive in the long run and in the inevitable “what shockers did you predict” forum, you will probably have a lot, but your predicting so many long shots that it will harm your predictions as a whole.

I’ve decided to cut back from my usual crazy predictions and keep them grounded this year.
