This year, John Williams received his 51st Oscar nomination for Star Wars: Episode VIII—The Last Jedi, making him the second most-nominated individual in Oscar history, only behind Walt Disney, who held the record with 59 nominations. Williams has ultimately won 5 times out of these nominations, for some of the most iconic scores in film history. So, with the Oscars coming up this weekend, I thought I’d post a list of all 48 films John Williams has been nominated for (sometimes he got multiple nominations for the same film):

    Valley Of The Dolls (1967)
    Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1969)
    The Reivers (1969)
Fiddler On The Roof (1971) First Oscar win
    The Poseidon Adventure (1972)
    Images (1972)
    Tom Sawyer (1973)
    Cinderella Liberty (1973)
    The Towering Inferno (1974)
    Jaws (1975) Second Oscar win
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind (1977)
Star Wars: Episode IV—A New Hope (1977) Third Oscar win
    Superman (1978)
Star Wars: Episode V—The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1981)
    Yes, Giorgio (1982)
    E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) Fourth Oscar win
Star Wars: Episode VI—Return Of The Jedi (1983)
    The River (1984)
Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom (1984)
    The Witches Of Eastwick (1987)
    Empire Of The Sun (1987)
    The Accidental Tourist (1988)
Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade (1989)
Born On The Fourth Of July (1989)
    Home Alone (1990)
    JFK (1991)
    Hook (1991)
Schindler’s List (1993) Fifth Oscar win
    Nixon (1995)
    Sabrina (1995)
    Sleepers (1996)
    Amistad (1997)
    Saving Private Ryan (1998)
    Angela’s Ashes (1999)
    The Patriot (2000)
Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone (2001)
    A.I.: Artificial Intelligence (2001)
Catch Me If You Can (2002)
Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban (2004)
    Munich (2005)
    Memoirs Of A Geisha (2005)
    War Horse (2011)
    The Adventures Of Tintin (2011)
    Lincoln (2012)
    The Book Thief (2013)
Star Wars: Episode VII—The Force Awakens (2015)
Star Wars: Episode VIII—The Last Jedi (2017)

Out of these films, I have seen 28 of them. How many have you seen?

I’ve seen all of these films. Oddly enough, I think his first Oscar-nominated score – Valley of the Dolls – might be my favorite.
