So last night, Eddie Redmayne, Julianne Moore, JK Simmons and Patricia Arquette all won their first Oscars. Three of these won on their first nomination.
But how many, if any, will be back on that stage in years to come and become a double Oscar winner?
And most interestingly, who will, who won’t and why?February 23, 2015 at 10:31 am #180767
Redmayne and Moore maybe, but this was probably it for Simmons and Arquette.

I think two will return to win – Eddie Redmayne and Julianne Moore.
Redmayne could well be a future Daniel Day Lewis in the reckoning, and go on to win three. Especially if he gets a great pick of roles after this year, and delivers knockout performances.
Julianne Moore doesn’t seem to be the kind of Actress who has one career Oscar, much like Cate Blanchett. I think it may take some time, but she will win a second.February 23, 2015 at 10:48 am #180769
Moore for sure; Redmayne has what it takes; Simmons is highly unlikely; Arquette is done.February 23, 2015 at 11:15 am #180770
I am going to go on a limb and say none of them.February 23, 2015 at 11:20 am #180771
None of them. And I personally hate these comparisons between Redmayne and Day-Lewis.February 23, 2015 at 11:22 am #180772
I cannot see Moore winning again. It was a struggle for her to get one. Arquette and Simmons are probably one and done as well. Redmayne will certainly be back.February 23, 2015 at 11:56 am #180773
I think Moore and Redmayne could do it again. Simmons is possible but Arquette is done I thinkFebruary 23, 2015 at 12:01 pm #180774
They’re all obviously possible. But for this poll I voted for zero.
Julianne Moore might become the next Shirley MacLaine and Susan Sarandon. Win on your 5th nomination and then haven’t been back since.
Eddie Redmayne has a very baity role this year with Tom Hooper’s The Danish Girl. I’m sure we’ll be saying Best Actor is stacked with so many contenders in the months to come. We shall see . . .February 23, 2015 at 12:49 pm #180775
Ediie will definitely be back and will probably win again. I think Julianne will be back and possibly win again. Simmons and Arquette will most likely not win again, especially Arquette. I could see Simmons nominated again though, but I don’t think he’ll win again.February 23, 2015 at 1:20 pm #180776
Moore and Redmayne are due for an immediate return.February 23, 2015 at 1:23 pm #180777
Redmayne for sure… I didn’t even know he was a Tony winner… =O… That guy has an impresive career coming his way. I’m sooo happy he won, he was the only one that looked truly happy and surprised. =’)February 23, 2015 at 1:27 pm #180778

Of course. Patricia Arquette, Julianne Moore, and J. K. Simmons had no reason to look surprised. They won everything these past couple of months.February 23, 2015 at 1:31 pm #180779
Julianne Moore might, depending on what roles she take next.. .I think part of what helped her win was the “overdue factor”… But she’s well liked enough and talented enough to continue garnering nominations, and I think 25 years from now will be the new Meryl Streep in that she’ll just keep getting nominated.
Eddie Redmayne is young enough I think he’ll continue to do impressive work and will continue to get nominations, possibly even wins.
Simmons will probably get a few more film roles and then return quickly to television; maybe elevated to a lead actor… but i don’t foresee another Oscar nomination.
Arquette I think is done. i think any potential film roles will be hindered by her committment (contractually) to that stupid CSI show.February 23, 2015 at 1:32 pm #180780

You are right, maybe I should scratch the word Surprised. But you get my point, Arquette, Moore and Simons were all great with their speeches, but very controled, he looked truly happy, like a little boy with a new toy… But I guess that has nothing to do with the topic hahaha… =P
