Darlings, if Jennifer Lopez gets a nomination for this, the Oscars are DEAD for me.
LENA HEADEY hasn't got an Emmy for Game of Thrones????? Emmys you need to win her right now!!
If Lena Headey doesn't win the Emmy, I'm leaving GoldDerby forever.September 8, 2019 at 5:35 pm #1203064299
I was certain this was going to be a non-factor (and to be honest critically reviled) but I am LIVING for the raves. Who would have thought that Hustlers would be getting raves out of TIFF!?September 8, 2019 at 5:40 pm #1203064314
Jennifer Lopez – Best Supporting actress!!!September 8, 2019 at 5:46 pm #1203064323
I also thought it would be getting mixed reviews and be the messiest movie of the year but a cute film for the gays to watch. Quite surprising.September 8, 2019 at 5:56 pm #1203064327
The trailer for this was fairly mediocre and it alone didn’t inspire much confidence in anyone who don’t have intel on the film or JLo’s performance. Not saying it’s not a great movie, but I wonder if part of the awards campaign for this is the fact that everyone is so surprised it’s doing well. Could create a compelling gimmick to at least get their foot in the door at the Globes, although it could still end there.September 8, 2019 at 6:20 pm #1203064357
If JLo has the performance then she should get nominated. I watched Selena the other day and she was really good in it. I didn’t think this movie would be getting good reviews.September 8, 2019 at 8:14 pm #1203064595
Twitter & Letterboxd reviewers are putting this in the Best Picture conversation! Who’d a thought!?
J.Lo is a serious contender. Wow.

Lol JLo’s so getting nominated for this.September 9, 2019 at 12:16 am #1203064761
I’m reserving judgment until I watch it but I’m nothing but sure that y’all are gonna spam Oscar nominee JLo until the end especially after she gets precursors nods and then the Academy will very casually snub her on Oscars noms morning as if she was never in contention and your meltdowns will be embarrassing.September 9, 2019 at 2:35 am #1203064826

Y’all were saying this about Gaga.September 9, 2019 at 3:22 am #1203064839
Y’all were saying this about Gaga.
Gaga campaigned her ass off, hit all precursors (and even won one) and was in a Best Picture nominee. Flopez is in a film the Oscars will never care for. She’s not a respected actress either like e.g. Penelope Cruz to be the sole acting (and major) nom for her equivalent of Nine.September 9, 2019 at 3:45 am #1203064860
What helped Gaga be undeniable last year to overcome the anti-pop star bias was her singing power in the movie. She particularly nailed the last scene.
I really can’t say the same about this movie. The trailer was kinda meh and even seemed a bit too commercial.September 9, 2019 at 5:15 am #1203064922
What other nominations can Hustlers get? for Lopez to be in consideration her movie needs to be an awards player in other categories especially Best Picture. If I’m not mistaken Helen Hunt was the last actress to be the sole nomination (Supporting Actress) of her movie.
