What International Films do you think would’ve gotten Best Picture nominations if they were American made with a Hollywood cast?

I will start with System Crasher and Portrait of A Lady On Fire.

Those films wouldn’t have been made.

Amonnite is just British Portrait of a Lady on Fire which is why it’s so awful.

Imagine Come and See being made by Hollywood. That thought horrifies me more than the movie.

They will make this an overtly sentimental movie with some cheesy one liners.

A Separation. As it was it certainly deserved it over the likes of The Artist, The Descendants, Midnight in Paris, etc.

Just the first few that came to mind:

If A Separation ended up being of the same quality and was American it would’ve won Best Picture.

If Memories of Murder was American it would probably only get an Editing nom (like Se7en) maybe a Screenplay nom as well

If The Hunt was American it would definitely have a Screenplay nom and maybe would’ve been nominated for Picture. Festen might’ve gotten a Screenplay nod as well.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire would at least get a well-deserved cinematography nom if it was American and maybe would’ve also taken a screenplay and/or acting nom.

Wong Kar-Wai would have a couple of screenplay noms
