Would she have won for A Star is Born? I think so. How would that affect the rest of the race. Hard to say if she would have won SAG too. (Colman still gets BAFTA/Oscar) Close would have never gained any momentum without the globe.

the Globes aren’t like the Oscars. Back to Back wins happens there often and some performers has won double in one night

But the Globes simply weren’t that enamored with A Star Is Born.

If Glenn had managed to win a Globe or two before then, Gaga would have prevailed. But the Globes felt like it was her set time for the Oscars and decided to boost her momentum with a win. Gaga would have deservedly won at the Globes and at SAG afterwards.
Colman would have still won Oscar because Gaga was never winning BAFTA. And GG + BAFTA is a perfect combo for actress when there isn’t a clean sweep.

they love surprises. They don’t usually go with the most predicted winner. 1917 was in fourth or fifth place on the awards night and it won. Bohemian Rhapsody won because they live for surprises and controversies

ReplyCopy URLMarch 9, 2020 at 2:37 pm #1203376107Gaga was never winning for ASIB and it’s clear the guilds did not love the film when it came to wins.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 10, 2020 at 5:43 am #1203376841I think the bigger question is “If Lady Gaga hadn’t written Shallow”. There was no way they weren’t getting her up on that stage that night, she would have trounced Close (sorry to her stans that can’t deal with that) if she only had one nomination.

Close’s Wife Globe is her third one.

Many said the same for Jennifer Lopez and yet, lol. That same night, Amy Adams had 2 nominations and they could’ve easily given her one of them and yet they said nope. So I don’t buy that Gaga, a much less respected actress than Adams, would’ve garnered sympathy votes if Any couldn’t.

Even with a hypothetical Golden Globe win in Actress, that ASIB movie lost so much steam that its major strength became the song. If Glenn in a fucking gold dress did not beat the British joy that is Colman, Lady Gaga was never going to accomplish that either. I mean…
