If Stone wins the BAFTA, no question, she’s the heavy favorite to win. But lets just say Portman wins the BAFTA. Does Portman become the favorite?

Critics Circle wins (Not counting online, women, or black awards):
    Portman – 11 wins
    Hubbert – 10 wins
    Stone – 4 wins

    Major Wins:
Portman – Critics Choice and BAFTA
    Stone – SAG and Globe
Hubbert – Globe and Satellite (tied with Negga)
Negga – Satellite (tied with Hubbert)

What if Streep wins? Does Streep get consideration for winning the Best Actress Oscar?

Well, apparently Denzel became the favorite because of winning SAG, so what do I know? Everything is possible.

okay since when was Satellite a major award?? also I don’t think Meryl Streep will win the SAG. it’s really between Natalie and Emma.

if Emma wins she continues leading the race.

if Natalie wins it could (re)open up the opportunity for her and also Isabelle to win the Oscar. it would just even the race a bit more among Natalie, Isabelle and Emma, as the latter would lose some momentum. but Emma’s SAG + GG win really cannot be overlooked, so even with a Natalie Bafta win, Emma would still have a solid shot of winning.

If Portman wins, it gives her and Huppert a boost and hopefully one of them beating Stone. If Stone wins, then she has the Oscar.

If Portman wins BAFTA she no doubt becomes the favourite. But I’d say the same if Streep wins BAFTA or if Bridges wins BAFTA or if basically any non-Brit wins that isn’t the frontrunner (apart from in Actor as obviously Washington isn’t there). As much as I’d love a Portman upset (or Blunt :P), Stone has this locked.

FYC Gold Derby TV Awards: Michelle Dockery - Movie/Limited Series Actress. Claire Foy - Performer of the Year.

And the Satellite Award wasn’t a tie. They gave out one winner to a major studio and one to a independent studio.

The only issue with Stone winning the Globe is that it’s up for comedy/musical. Her only competition was Streep. She was not up against Hubbert or Portman.

Stone’s biggest positive is the SAG win. But the BAFTAs are just as important. Stone wins, no doubt, she’ll win the Oscar. Portman wins, it’s between Stone, Portman, and Hubbert.

I think winning the BAFTA definitely makes Portman the favorite, but others on this board would disagree. If Emma Stone wins, she has the Oscar. I just can’t see Huppert having a chance at Oscar without BAFTA and SAG noms.

No, though if Portman does somehow win BAFTA, she, not Huppert, probably finishes (a distant) runner-up to Stone at the Oscars.

No. Portman lost the Golden Globe and SAG. She’s in a film the Academy did not respond to. At the beginning of the season, the film was looking at multiple nods, including picture. It didn’t even get writing, cinematography and production design. It’s not happening for Portman. She needed much more. And her BAFTA win won’t happen either. A win for somebody snubbed by the London Film Critics Circle is rare.

She’s in a film the Academy did not respond to.

If this were the case, The Academy wouldn’t have even nominated her.
