I know this won’t happen, but let’s make-believe for a moment. Here’s the scenario: Coronavirus manages to wreck the film industry for the remainder of the year, and no new films premiere. The Academy’s list of eligible films is now shortened only to films that have already been released this year.

Who would be the nominees and winners?

    Why wouldn’t this happen??
Honestly, we don’t know if this whole global crisis will be settled and solved for September or October, so who knows??

Btw Bloodshot sweeps, and Vin Diesel will win Best Actor.

    My predictions:

    PICTURE:

    • THE BANKER
    • Emma
    • The Invisible Man
    • The Way Back
    • The Call of the Wild
    • The Gentlemen
    • Never Rarely Sometimes Always
    • The Photograph

    DIRECTOR:

    • AUTUMN DE WILDE, Emma
    • Guy Ritchie, The Gentlemen
    • Gavin O’Connor, The Way Back
    • Leigh Whannell, The Invisible Man
    • Chris Sanders, The Call of the Wild

    ACTOR:

    • BEN AFFLECK, The Way Back
    • Harrison Ford, The Call of the Wild
    • Anthony Mackie, The Banker
    • Jesse Eisenberg, Resistance
    • Lakeith Stanfield, The Photograph

    ACTRESS:

    • ELISABETH MOSS, The Invisible Man
    • Anya Taylor-Joy, Emma
    • Issa Rae, The Photograph
    • Amy Ryan, Lost Girls
    • Alisson Brie, Horse Girl

    SUPPORTING ACTOR:

    • NICHOLAS HOULT, The Banker
    • Samuel L. Jackson, The Banker
    • Ewan McGregor, Birds of Prey
    • Courtney B. Vance, Uncorked
    • Bill Nighy, Emma

    SUPPORTING ACTRESS:

    • THOMASIN MCKENZIE, Lost Girls
    • Mia Goth, Emma
    • Niecy Nash, Uncorked
    • Rosie Perez, The Last Thing He Wanted
    • Molly Shannon, Horse Girl

    ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY:

    • NEVER RARELY SOMETIMES ALWAYS
    • The Gentlemen
    • First Cow
    • The Photograph
    • The Way Back

    ADAPTED SCREENPLAY:

    • EMMA
    • Lost Girls
    • The Invisible Man
    • The Call of the Wild
    • Downhill

Additionally, I think Emma takes home Production Design, Costume Design, and Makeup & Hairstyling, with Birds of Prey getting nominations in the latter two. Onward crushes the (nonexistent?) Animated Picture competition. The Banker wins Original Score. Birds of Prey takes Visual Effects, against Dolittle, Sonic the Hedgehog, Call of the Wild, and Bad Boys for Life. Cinematography goes to either The Photograph or Wendy, with BBfL and The Banker getting nominations. Miss Americana wins documentary.

Cool to see all The Gentlemen notices. I know competition isn’t all that stiff (at all), but I enjoyed that movie a lot more than I thought I would. Suprinsingly a lot of fun.

I think Simon Pegg (Lost Transmissions) and Betty Gilpin (The Hunt) could be contenders in acting categories.
