Be creative. I’d choose Best Animal Training.February 13, 2017 at 8:42 am #1202010790
The Oscars don’t need more categories. In fact, the number should probably be cut in half.February 13, 2017 at 8:48 am #1202010793

Ellen would have deserved to win for Finding Nemo and Johanson for Her.February 13, 2017 at 8:53 am #1202010797
There should be the Oscar for Best Casting and Best Stunt Coordination at least. Ged rid of Best Original Song.February 14, 2017 at 8:22 pm #1202012232

I would hate that. I know im in the minority, but I would love for best animated movie to be scrapped. It’s not that I don’t like animation, I love it, but I think it is a movie, just as the others are, so it should be able to compete with non animated films. The same goes for voice acting, I genuinley believe that voice actors should compete with live action actors in movies. Scarlett Johansomn should have been nominated for Her. I just think the best animated feature category is a cheap route to an Oscar and by giving voice actors categories too it would be unfair.
I am also for combing actress and actor to make it best lead performance and best supporting performance. I hate that they are seperated. Having a penis or a vagina does not make acting different.
I think sound should be combined, as should shorts.
I would be okay with a casting and stunts category.
Animals training would be a dumb category and should be considered a part of stunts.
I think screenplay should be combined and have 10 slots.
I don’t like the doc category either- same opinion as animation. a movie is a movie and should compete with ALL movies. Same with foreighn film.
In a perfect world, the BP lineup would have at least one of each: animated, documentary, foreign, action/ blockbuster. Sadly that won’t ever realistically happen.February 14, 2017 at 9:09 pm #1202012251
Best Youth Performance–An acting category for performers under the age of 18 years old. I’d have Youth Performance Female and Youth Performance Male.
I think oftentimes youth performances are nominated but never have a real chance at winning and other youth performances go ignored because there is only so much space in the supporting or lead categories.February 14, 2017 at 9:12 pm #1202012253
I was actually going to post a combination of a lot of the answers. There are way too many categories so definitely need to cut some like Original Song and combine some like Sound. If I were to add one, I think best stunt coordination would be it. Voice acting, like it does now, should compete with the regular actors. I wouldn’t do a best casting category.February 14, 2017 at 10:01 pm #1202012288
Get rid of song and add casting or voice actingFebruary 14, 2017 at 10:03 pm #1202012290
Also a separate actor/actress of the year award would be cool, like the film critics do. For instance, like Michael Shannon this year who has been in 7 films, or Tom Hardy last year with Mad Max, Legend, and the RevenantFebruary 14, 2017 at 10:37 pm #1202012324
Voice-Over Performance in a Motion Picture
For your Goldderby Film Awards consideration: Isle of Dogs for every category, especially Music Score for Alexandre Desplat!February 14, 2017 at 10:45 pm #1202012333
Get rid of Best Original Song and replace it with Best Casting.February 14, 2017 at 11:36 pm #1202012357
If I ran the Oscars… six nominees per category, higher quality and more international contenders. Picture awarded to the director. Twelve awards:
Best Actor in a Leading Role
Best Actor in a Supporting Role
Best Adapted Screenplay
Best Original Screenplay
Best Costume Design
Best Production Design
Lifetime Achievement Award
The latter of which would be one per year, again presented on the main ceremony.
