I can’t vote for some reason, but she would have deserved a win for Rosemary’s Baby and a nod for Purple Rose, Hannah and Her Sisters and Alice.

She’s a very underrated actress overall – so slyly nuanced and understated many people don’t even realize she’s acting. What she’s doing is actually incredibly challenging: she always skillfully creates the impression of being a real person in real situations, almost as if the camera just happened to be there by accident. Many of her more acclaimed peers keep trying to do this but to a much lesser effect.

Whatever’s going on with her and her fucked-up family in private is another matter, but as an actress, her contribution to cinema has been much more significant than she’s given credit for.

Probably for the role of the vengeful wife who falsely accuse her husband of abusing their child in “My Life With Woody Allen”

The Oscar needs to get rid of the preferential ballot so it can name a deserving movie as Best Picture again.

I voted for The Purple Rose of Cairo but could just have easily voted for Mia’s work in Rosemary’s Baby, Broadway Danny Rose & Alice. She was exactly terrific in all her films for Woody Allen.

    “The Purple Rose of Cairo”

It should have been (at least) nominated for
    Best Picture
    Best Director
    Best Actress (Mia Farrow)
    Best Actor (Jeff Daniels)
    Best Costume Design
    Best Editing
and it should have won Best Original Screenplay, hands down, especially over “Witness”, fine film that won but there’s no comparision between both films as contributions to the art of filmmaking. Academy looks foolish to give “The Purple Rose…” only one nomination.

Gena Rowlands was also nomination worthy in Another Woman. It may be my favorite Woody Allen film.

I’d nominate her for Rosemary’s Baby instead of Vanessa Redgrave for Isadora and for Broadway Danny Rose instead of Sissy Spacek in The River.

She really is fantastic in Rosemary. That is really annoying that she didn’t get in. (just the final scene alone where she sees the baby is award worthy alone.)

I can vividly remember the first time I saw Broadway Danny Rose and just thinking she was hysterical and it was such a shock that she was playing such a different type of role.

Speaking of Broadway Danny Rose, I remember reading some fan review and somebody admitting that they legit did not know that was Mia Farrow until like half-way through the movie.
