In the 1990s, Miramax put a heavy campaign behind two Italian films that ultimately did very well during awards season. Which one do you prefer?
ReplyThe odd thing is Benigni was kind of beloved that year at the Oscars as was the film. It is only as time has gone by that the win became unpopular. I don’t really have a strong opinion positive or negative about the film.
I wonder why it has changed in popularity though. I guess his antics climbing around on the seats and the fact that he never did much after the film of note have helped cheapen the win.

His most notable follow-up was a critically-panned Pinocchio adaptation in which HE played Pinocchio. And also infamously terrible dubbing.
