    Hi Everyone:

Just submitted my Spirit Award ballot a few minutes ago. For anyone who’s interested here’s what I voted for:

    1. Best Feature: Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom
    2. Best First Feature: Nine Days
    3. Best Director: Emerald Fennell- Promising Young Woman
    4. Best Female Lead: Nicole Beharie – Miss Juneteenth
    5. Best Male Lead: Chadwick Boseman – Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom
    6. Best Supporting Male: Paul Raci – Sound Of Metal
    7. Best Supporting Female: Alexis Chikaeze – Miss Juneteenth
    8. Best Screenplay: The Half Of It
    9. Best First Screenplay: Miss Juneteenth
    10. Best Documentary: Crip Camp
    11. Best International Film: Quo Vadis, Aida?
    12. Best Editing: The Invisible Man
    13. Best Cinematography: I abstain. I ran out of time and didn’t get a chance to watch She Dies Tomorrow

I also didn’t get a chance to watch any of the television nominees so I abstained from voting for those as well.

I look forward to hearing from any of my fellow Spirit Award voters on their ballots too.

I was waiting for voting to closed. Here were my votes.

    1. Best Feature: Nomadland
    2. Best First Feature: The 40 Year Old Version
    3. Best Director: Chloe Zhang – Nomadland
    4. Best Female Lead: Frances McDormand- Nomadland
    5. Best Male Lead: Steven Yeun – Minari
    6. Best Supporting Male: – Glynn Turman – Ma Rainey ( I will confess that I had no passion with any of the nominees. No one particular stood out for me except Turmann
    7. Best Supporting Female: Yuh- jung You- Minari
    8. Best Screenplay: Promising Young Woman
    9. Best First Screenplay: Lapsis ( last one I saw in category and was pleasantly surprised. I could even see an A lister getting that script and filming it)
    10. Best Documentary: Collective
    11. Best International Film: Abstained (didn’t finish watching all nominees)
    12. Best Editing: Nomadland
    13. Best Cinematography: Nomadland

    Television Categories

Dcomentary – Abstain (didn’t have time to watch)

Scripted series – Small Axe ( I May destroy you was already getting cast award . Wanted to spread wealth )
Female performance- Shira Haas – unorthodox

Male Performance- Amit Rahav – Unorthodox.  ( weirdest category nominees . There’s two that I had to look up to see who they were on show)

I agree. I wish it had received more than 2 nominations. While I liked Benedict Wong in the film I genuinely thought Paul Raci gave a better performance.

If Winston Duke or Zazie Beetz had been nominated for I definitely would have voted for them.

I think the fact that it was nearly impossible to watch it unless you attended Sundance contributed to its non-existent buzz because no one cared about it awards-wise. But people will react to it positively to it, I’m sure.

Yeah, I kind of jumped the gun a bit. I should have waited for voting to close too. My bad.

I also ran into the same problem in a few categories where I wasn’t passionate about any of the nominees. Sometimes, like voting for politicians, you simply have to choose from what’s available.

LOL! We didn’t agree in a single category. I did come close to voting for Turman and Lapsis though.

    Thanks for sharing.

    My votes:

    Feature: Nomadland
First Feature: I Carry You With Me
    Director: Chloé Zhao
    Screenplay: Promising Young Woman
    First Screenplay: Palm Springs
    Actress: Carey Mulligan
    Actor: Steven Yeun
    Supporting Actress: Yuh-Jung Youn
    Supporting Actor: Paul Raci
    Cinematography: Nomadland
    Editing: Nomadland
    International: Quo Vadis, Aida?

Didn’t watch all the documentaries so I passed on that one. Not sure if it’s just me, but I found a lot of the nominees this year to be rather underwhelming.

    I voted for:

    Feature: Minari
First Feature: The 40 Year Old Version
    Director: Chloe Zhao
    Screenplay: Promising Young Woman
    First Screenplay: Miss Juneteenth
    Actress: Carey Mulligan
    Actor: Riz Ahmed
    Supporting Actress: Yuh-jung Youn
    Supporting Actor: Paul Raci
    Cinematography: Nomadland
    Editing: Nomadland
    International: Quo Vadis, Aida?
    Documentary Feature: Time

New Television Series: I May Destroy You
    TV Actress: Shira Haas
    TV Actor: Amit Rahav

Didn’t have time to watch the documentary series. Some of these choices were so difficult. I was so tempted to lend my vote to Yeri Han in Supporting Actress but I was like “no, vote for the grandma who wears mens underwear!”

FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")

There’s no rule about posting before deadline. That was just me.

This year nominees were a little underwhelming.

im surprised how similar I am to Wolfali predictions.

Nicole Beharie winning would be incredible, she’s so underrated. Great pick.

Just because you don’t agree with someone’s choices doesn’t mean that they are awful.everyone has different taste.
