ReplyCopy URLJuly 23, 2019 at 10:35 am #1202991718This list is, once again, trash. Tom Cruise for Mission Impossible, Mahershala Ali 5, Tiffany Haddish, and Elizabeth Debicki for The Great Gatsby and all ahead of Riva? Aparicio over Colman? IndieWire must really hate Black Swan lol. Everyone stays sleeping on Lawrence’s mother! performance and this list reinforces that. The only good placement is Blanchett for Carol.

Also got banned because...reasons? So, I guess ciao.
July 23, 2019 at 10:37 am #1202991725I’m so confused. I like Debicki and her performance in Gatsby, but how on earth did it make this list. She had about 10 minutes of screentime.

Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)July 23, 2019 at 10:41 am #1202991737Chalamet and Davis are way too low. They should be in the top 10.

And why is Chalamet behind her and Tiffany Hadish? What on earth?
ReplyCopy URLJuly 23, 2019 at 10:57 am #1202991769Honey, this is TV threads. Whatsoever this list is trash.
Damnit, I never even realised that. 🤦♂️
Anyone know how to move a thread (or a mod who can move it)
ReplyCopy URLJuly 23, 2019 at 10:59 am #1202991774This list is even worse than the Top 100 best films.
I mean… what is with Indiewire’s obsession with “Lady Bird”? I personally loved the film and its performances (it was my 2nd favorite film of 2017) but this maniac fixation is mind-boggling. Saoirse Ronan does not deserve a place here, if she does it would be for “Brooklyn”.
After placing “Certified Copy” at 3rd place, you would think they would at least give a mention to the film’s most brilliant element aka Juliette Binoche’s riveting performance. But yeah, completely ignored.
A lot of horrendous picks in this that I could not even fathom to begin with. Lady Gaga? Elizabeth Debicki? Cate Blanchett over Rooney Mara? Mahershala Ali and that nothing performance? Daniel Kaluuya? No Joaquin Phoenix for “The Master” or even “You Were Never Really Here”?
Absolute trash list. Indiewire should stop acting like they’re Sight & Sound and go on with their unedited articles about Hollywood representation.
July 23, 2019 at 11:11 am #1202991807Like 5 puppies died the exact moment this list was published.
Yeah, Queen Huppert must be there but there’s some awful company right there
ReplyCopy URLJuly 23, 2019 at 11:14 am #1202991812I get that they’ll put only one performance per actor/actress, but the absence of Isabelle Huppert for Things to Come saddens me too much. Another one I really adore and is missing is Timothy Spall for his portrayal of Turner. Finally, I think Daniel Day-Lewis was even better in Phantom Thread.

Oh, and some Kim Min-Hee?July 23, 2019 at 11:19 am #1202991820What is the thing with Paddington 2 that everyone is so obsessed with it?
Gaga in ASIB was my favorite last year but above Timothee, Viola and Sally Hawkins??
Elizabeth Debicki was in The Great Gatsby?
Just because Natalie Portman entered for Jackie and Blanchett for Carol doesn’t mean they should be excluded for Black Swan and Blue Jasmine
Also someone should tell them more than one performance in a movie can be placed in a ranking.
Too much mess now
ReplyCopy URLJuly 23, 2019 at 11:43 am #1202991879I don’t think i’ve ever seen such terrible list in my entire life? Lady Gaga? Ahead of Viola Davis, Timothée Chalamet, Toni Collette and Emmanuelle Riva??? WHAT???!!! Mahershala TOP 5?! Regina Hall is way to HIGH!!! WHERE IS OLIVIA COLMAN AND RACHEL AND EMMA???!!! Cate should be no. 2 for Blue Jasmine not for Carol. No Joaquin Phoenix for The Master?! This is just BAD!!! Also no Marion Cotillard for neither Rust and Bone or Two Days, One Night?! Tilda was also better in We Need To Talk About Kevin. Elizabeth Debicki for her cameo performance in Gatsby? Jesus Christ…NO Rosamund Pike? Michelle Williams? Gary Oldman? Bruce Dern? Amy Adams? Anne Hathaway? Glenn Close? Annette Bening? AGAIN THIS IS JUST BAD!!! The person who did this list has the worst taste I’ve ever seen… At least Isabelle Huppert got a deserved TOP5 for her incredible performance.
