Blunt plays is mostly commercial fair. If she doesn’t get a nom this year she should try an indie or two.January 9, 2019 at 8:18 pm #1202728345
At the end of the day, she isn’t underrated. She gets a lot of work and acclaim and although she hasn’t broke through with awards like some want her to, she will eventually and either way she has a career most could never dream of having. She’ll be fine.January 10, 2019 at 8:29 am #1202728828
Hm, no. I agree that she is always ignored by the awards, but I do not think she is underrated. Almost everyone agrees that she is a great actress and one of the best of her generation and when talking about the actresses who should have more recognition she is ALWAYS mentioned. There is a big difference between an actress who is underestimated and has her talent denied and an actress who is always praised and recognized for her talent by critics and audiences but fails to get recognition in the awards for lack of campaigning or simply bad luck. Underrated actresses for me are actresses like Rebecca Hall…January 11, 2019 at 7:03 am #1202729893
Isn’t it crazy how many potential opportunities Blunt will have had to get nominated when she’s snubbed this year?
The Devil Wears Prada – Golden Globe and BAFTA noms
The Young Victoria – Golden Globe and Critics Choice noms
Into the Woods – Golden Globe nom (and was the favourite to win, also won Critics Choice award for Edge of Tomorrow in same year)
Sicario – AACTA and Critics Choice noms, also her best performance at critics awards
The Girl on the Train – BAFTA and SAG noms
A Quiet Place – SAG and AACTA noms
Mary Poppins Returns – Globe, SAG and Critics Choice nomsJanuary 11, 2019 at 7:09 am #1202729898This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.January 11, 2019 at 7:39 am #1202729920
I don’t think underrated as such , Blunt is working her way to that upper echelon of movie star I reckon BUT she deserves a nomination for Sicario , I thought it was one of the best performances of that year and she also deserves recognition for A quiet place. She’s a very versatile actress who can do alot and I’d expect we are going to see her in alot too, over the yearsJanuary 11, 2019 at 5:57 pm #1202730428
Let’s keep our fingers crossed as Emily Blunt will hopefully score her Oscar nomination for ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ in the Best Actress category. She won’t be in the race in the next few years with the release of next year’s ‘Jungle Cruise’ with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.January 22, 2019 at 10:22 am #1202744354This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.January 22, 2019 at 12:15 pm #1202744616
I hate to be pessimistic, but after today’s snub I’m seriously beginning to think that Blunt is the anti-Streep. The Academy just doesn’t want to ever nominate her for some odd reason. Absolutely sad.January 22, 2019 at 12:20 pm #1202744626
Our prayer circle failed, again, but we’ll keep trying. New stats confirmed: Critics Choice nominations: 7 (1 win) Golden Globe nominations: 6 (1 win) SAG nominations (individual): 3 (0 wins) BAFTA nominations: 2 (0 wins) Academy Award nominations: 0
I want to cryJanuary 22, 2019 at 12:33 pm #1202744656
I don’t think so. I think Blunt’s problem is simple; she lacks vulnerability. Just my two cents.January 22, 2019 at 1:37 pm #1202744779This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.January 22, 2019 at 1:39 pm #1202744783

Just like Cameron Diaz and Scarlett Johansson before they gave up
FYC: Octavia Spencer (Luce) - Best Supporting Actress
