So I just saw “Judy” and was blown away by the movie. It was incredible. I have no doubt Renee is earning an Oscar nomination (and maybe even a win). But my real question, is will the success of this film and her performance be enough to revive her career? Will Renee be back on the Hollywood A-List and racking up more movies on her resume? Or is she going to be kind of forgotten after the award season is over?
Do you guys see Renee sustaining her career after this awards season or is she going to fade back into obscurity?October 29, 2019 at 5:28 am #1203157138
I think she will have much better movie roles this time around, so she won’t fade back into complete obscurity, lol. But she won’t be uber-successful either. Her prime has passed (Hollywood is quite ageist).October 29, 2019 at 6:05 am #1203157186
Darling, no it’s not since Judy is already a flop.

I wouldn’t necessarily say it will revive her career. She won’t be nearly as popular as she was in the early 2000’s, but it should definitely boost her stock quite a bit. She has absolute raves for it, great box office and Oscar buzz. I’d expect more supporting roles than lead roles, just because there’s more of those to go around. Also, it depends on how much she wants to work too.October 29, 2019 at 6:29 am #1203157222
Former Prime Minister, I wouldn’t call $31m so far a flop. It still hasn’t premiered in a lot of countries, and let’s assume the film’s budget is about $10m, it’s not a bad box office, at all.
It’s not a flop in the slightest. It’s actually quite the success.October 29, 2019 at 8:09 am #1203157338
Judy gave Zellweger an act two. If she wins that defaults her into legend status. Because the performance alone warrants the front runner status more so the narrative of the former it girl returning to Hollywood with a vengeance.October 29, 2019 at 8:13 am #1203157343
