To elaborate, I was wondering if there were actors who, according to Gold Derby, has been frequently snubbed in instances where they may not necessarily have won the Oscar, but should have at least been nominated. I instantly think of Jake Gyllenhaal, Keira Knightley, and Viggo Mortensen, but I am intrigued to hear from others.

Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Helena Bonham Carter, and Imelda Staunton all come to mind. But I’d argue that they’ve all been snubbed of wins (including Swinton, who should’ve collected a second trophy for We Need to Talk About Kevin).

It’s also terrible that Emma Thompson hasn’t been nominated since I was two years old. But I guess Saving Mr Banks is her only proper snub, and she was probably sixth place with that.

And it’s not a specific person, but a decent number of actresses have been snubbed for their work in Pedro Almodovar films.

Swinton should be nominated for Suspiria this year. At least she has won once.

Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Helen Mirren, Maggie Smith, Charlize Theron and Ralph Fiennes.

It’s still painful that Emily Blunt and Scarlett Johansson aren’t nominees yet. And when will Helen Mirren return? That’s one of my favorite old generation actresses. Charlize Theron for Young Adult is just super offensive.

Debbi Morgan should have been nominated for Supporting Actress in 1998 for Eve’s Bayou.
