Ok….Oscar ratings have been going down, down down…..is this some staged stunt for rating and buzz. This seems so phoney….Emma claiming she had the envelope the whole time…etc…..this is embarassing……I think i am going to Golden Globes as the Gold Standard for film…..I like both moonlight and La La Land and Moonlight….to tell you the truth..I wanted Arrival to win…but not happening……this is a freaking joke and embarrassment! AMPAS…you have you your head up your ass!February 26, 2017 at 10:39 pm #1202024637
just look at all the publicity and buzz the Oscars are getting…think rating will be up next year?February 26, 2017 at 10:41 pm #1202024639
Ruin 89 year tradition for the most prestigious film award in entertainment history? Destroy the reputation of PWC firm one of the Big 4 Accounting Firms in the World? Of course all intentional.February 26, 2017 at 10:44 pm #1202024645
Totally agree…February 26, 2017 at 10:45 pm #1202024650
No, I highly doubt it. They have some major explaining to do though. I guess one Best Picture envelope from one side of the stage said Emma Stone in La La Land the other said Moonlight and Warren Beatty just picked up the one with the error in it. Was the title on the envelope itself Best Picture? That’s why I want to know. Because maybe they gave him the extra “just in case” Best Actress envelope? I think that’s probably what happened. It’s Faye’s fault though- If she saw Emma Stone’s name, she should have known it was a mistake.February 26, 2017 at 10:50 pm #1202024662
It’s a complete embarrassment.February 26, 2017 at 10:51 pm #1202024665
100% staged. My first thought was how last year had the lowest ratings for almost a decade and they needed to spice it up. No way in HELL Price Waterhouse Cooper messed up – the envelope Beatty had said “Actress in Leading Role”, so it wasn’t a matter of putting the wrong card in the wrong envelope. An Oscar employee must have done it.February 26, 2017 at 10:53 pm #1202024670
And what the flip was Beatty thinking? It said “Emma Stone” on the card – surely he could have just said “can someone check the envelope?” How many times has this guy presented Oscars? He should be a pro by now.February 26, 2017 at 10:54 pm #1202024672
I think that’s highly possible. It was too much of a mistake.February 26, 2017 at 10:54 pm #1202024674

Tbh it doesn’t help Faye shouted out La La Land without the confirmation. You do clearly see he’s mentally going oh shitFebruary 26, 2017 at 10:55 pm #1202024675
I do think it was staged, especially the last couple years where the hosts weren’t as well-liked, and the whole #oscarssowhite thing. PWC wouldn’t have screwed up that big.
Just a thought: unless PWC put someone new in charge of the ballot results? Regardless though I’m sure someone’s cleaning out their desk tomorrow morning.February 26, 2017 at 10:56 pm #1202024677
There are some valid points
Earlier it was rumored that ABC was brainstorming how to get higher ratings
Also, what are the odds that out of the 24 categories, the mixup not only happens with the biggest category, but the biggest upsetFebruary 26, 2017 at 10:56 pm #1202024679
And I have seen Emma Stone come out and say she had her envelope…..she said she gave it to her publicist….February 26, 2017 at 11:14 pm #1202024708
The problem I am having is that there were 3 producers for La La Land and 4 producers for Moonlight…why didn’t they realize where the extra Oscar was supposed to go? The let almost 3 speeches go through before they get out there…..as soon as Dunaway said La La Land…there should have been someone out there on stage correcting things. This is an absolute joke…Rock On Golden Globes!
