Kate Winslet gives the classiest piece of acting of the year. She would get my vote.

    For a Razzie, maybe.

I’d be happy as long as Hawkins and McDormand lose the statuette. I found them two of the most disgusting characters ever. I think the underrated Kate Winslet gives the classiest piece of acting of the year. She would get my vote.

The award isn’t for best character, it’s best actress.

    That’s snarky.

And so? I found their performances disgusting. Can I even disagree on something?

I guess Woody Allen will regret hiring Winslet instead of you.

anyone who doesn’t see how well both Frances, Soairse and Sally did in their films is an idiot .. all three were amazing in different ways and would be worthy winners based on their films

I love how close this race is. I would have no issue with Ronan, McDormand, or Robbie (my first choice) winning. I did like Hawkins in “The Shape of Water” but preferred her in “Maudie”. So if she wins I’ll pretend it was for that beautiful movie.

I was planning on seeing Streep on Friday, but it depends on how bad and cold the weather gets here on the east coast. I am excited to see “The Post” and Streep’s performance.

I will be happy if anyone but McDormand wins so I am glad that at least so far it’s a real contest so I might not have to hit the mute button on March 3rd (is that the correct date?). I have no sense of what the voters are actually thinking about these performances. SAG will certainly help.

I have yet to see the films. I’m excited, though.

Don’t be excited, because there are high possibilities of seeing Sally Hawkins and Frances McDormand stealing the 4th Academy Award to Meryl Streep. Yes, and the best actress of the year, Kate Winslet, will be snubbed.

I only have seen three out of the consensus five and here’s what I thought:

Robbie (and I, Tonya) exceeded the expectation.

McDormand lives up to the hype.

Ronan (and Lady Bird in general) is underwhelming.

I hope if they really want to reward LB, just give one to Metcalf.

I agree with you. Robbie and McDormand (especially the latter) would be great choices. I have yet to see Hawkins.

The first time I ever agreed with you.

Streep, Ronan, Hawkins, Robbie and McDormand all give great performances in their respective films. If those five women get nominated, it’ll be one hell of a lineup.

It wasn’t the “classiest piece of acting of the year”  but it was surprisingly pretty good. Even the movie wasn’t that bad.
