So…is the Original Song going to Travis Scott or something from Soul?

Poor Billie. She had no competition this year. Next year, who knows

There’ll be a lot more competition next year because there are a lot of musicals being released – Lin Manuel Miranda’s new song for In the Heights is sure to be a front runner, if there’s an original song for West Side Story that will be in the mix. Plus there’s Dear Evan Hansen which we don’t know about song-wise yet but I imagine the studio will be keen to get something in. And then Annette may get something in too.

And that’s before we even consider non-musicals.

So what do we all think?

I’d say it’s a very fitting finale for Craig, and he’s great in it. Lea Seydoux for me is the stand out though. I think Madeleine as a character really comes into her own and feels fully fleshed out in this film.

Lynch, Malek and de Armas are all great in it too. I’ve seen many say Anna should have been in it more but I have to say I think she’s in it for the perfect amount of time because she steals the scenes without overshadowing Craig and sets up a great case for maybe her own spin off?

There isn’t anything I don’t like about it. I do think the plot sometimes needed a little asterisk to explain what was going on – particularly at one extremely crucial moment.

Great technicals, as ever. Oscars wise Billie is getting a nomination, which we already knew. The cinematography is stunning, sound design, effects and editing would all be very worthy nominees.

Se Armas was hilarious. Seydoux was excellent. I had higher expectations of the movie generally – maybe unfair – but this wasn’t the best Craig outing. It relies too much on the last 15 minutes. I did not like Malek.

    POSSIBLE SPOILERS

Just saw the movie. All received a fitting end to their stories.

It was nice, but is it competing to be the top 3 best Craig bond films? im not sure yet. Armas was great in the 4mins she was in, also loved how they fleshed out Lea’s character and that goodbye to Vesper was great for Bond moving on and his story.

One let down was Malek’s character, i just did not feel him in this role. Not sure what it is, but yeah. Poor Billie, she might have won easily last year but next year who knows.

LOL people praising Seydoux. She has always been the weakest link and that didn’t change here. Just a stupid character, a giant old-fashioned trope. Also, no chemistry with Craig whatsoever.

This really didn’t have to be a serialized sequel to Spectre. I don’t know why they made that decision but given that they didn’t even utilize Blofeld in any satisfying way in either movie, I see no point of these 2 movies being a 2-parter.

    HINTED SPOILER

I also don’t understand why they bothered with that ending since there will be new Bond. The franchise was never about a bunch of randos taking JB name but it’s the same character just played by difference actros like Batman, Superman, Spiderman. Even if you do something supposedly definitive with one of them, the new one will erase/retcon that. So whatever.

I don’t think it was worth the wait. It’s far from a bad movie but it’s not great either. The almost 3 hour runtime was completely unnecessary as well, a good 30 minutes of this could’ve been chopped off. Rami Malek was a weak Bond villian. Loved the opening credits and the transition was so smooth. Good technicals with some nice cinematography. Ana de Armas was the real standout here and a total scene stealer – wish she was in it more than the measly 10 minutes she got.

In terms of my ranking on the Daniel Craig movies:

    1. Casino Royale
    2. Skyfall
    3. No Time To Die
    4. Spectre
    5. Quantum of Solace

yeah midtear Craig is right. Casino and Skyfall will continue to be the Top 2 with Casino pulling up as the time goes by for Craig and Green were timeless.

I saw it and it was fantastic. It was well worth the wait. A lot of stuff from previous films was wrapped, and more about Madeleine’a backstory was revealed. Ana de Armas was very good, and I think she got the right amount of screen time. Her character Paloma was funny, scrappy and very bubbly too. Lashana Lynch was excellent, and I loved some of the back and forth remarks between her character Nomi and Bond. Won’t get into more detail because of spoilers,  but there were nods to past films like Dr No and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. I thought Rami Malek was annoying as the villain. For me, it’s definitely the most emotional Bond film in the Craig era.

The ending suuuucked big time. I’m actually shocked how much I enjoyed the rest. It was literally a rollercoaster ride, those 160 minutes felt like two hours at most.

Throughly enjoyed this and appreciated the ending even if I had part of it spoiled for me (I had tried so hard to avoid!). Biggest compliment I can pay is that I hate long movies but I would have no idea this was as long as it is.

I felt it was about a half hour longer than it needed to be but it was enjoyable. I liked Rami Malek, it was fun seeing Billy Magnussen, who I know from As the World Turns, I wish Judi Dench had been in it instead of that boring Ralph Fiennes, loved Ben Whishaw as Q… I do wish they would have given us more of a sense of place as I was sometimes confused, particularly by the new 007 female agent. Ana de Armas was great but I was surprised she didn’t show up again later in the picture.

    It’s amazing to me how all of these paid assassins have no aim and Bond is always able to dodge every single one of their bullets! (;

I think the movie might get two Oscar nominations: Best Sound and Best Original Song.
