It’s about time they awarded Legend Fonda! Beyond overdue! Congrats!
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 26, 2021 at 1:12 pm #1204003573Initially shocked that she never got this until now, but it makes sense. She did have that long hiatus from acting and came back stronger with her roles and activism, so the timing is perfect.

January 26, 2021 at 6:34 pm #1204004159I wonder if we will see Dolly Parton and/or Lily Tomlin involved in the presentation.

👑Mary Wilson (1944-2021)January 26, 2021 at 9:22 pm #1204004379As she should! Her performance is ‘Klute’ is one of the best time and her dedication to activism over the past 50+ years is amazing.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 26, 2021 at 11:13 pm #1204004447Sort of disappointed. They should have saved a legend like Fonda for a year when they can have the full ceremony and gone with someone more marginal this year.
Seems sad that she may have to have her tribute done by people on skype.
(Have they said anything about how the Globes will be handled this year? In person? LA just got out of lockdown yesterday and that was just because the governor is facing a recall. Still pretty bad and likely to get worse now.)
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 27, 2021 at 3:16 am #1204004571Yeah because their careers have had no impact right?

ugh I didn’t even think about this! Fonda is too iconic to be spared the fanfare of an in person ceremony.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 27, 2021 at 3:48 am #1204004579Really happy about this choice. I agree that it would be disappointing if she can’t receive it in person. I bet money that Dolly Parton and Lily Tomlin will present it to her

January 27, 2021 at 10:11 am #1204005062They should have given it to Jim Carrey, Tom Cruise or Glenn Close. Fonda hasn’t done anything worth mentioning since the mid 80s.
Carrey and Cruise are pretty young. Close is someone I believe will get it soon. I think Dame Fonda is an excellent choice. She hasn’t done anything worth mentioning for decades because the opportunities aren’t there.
