Not sure about awards prospects but LOVED this trailer!July 23, 2019 at 10:32 am #1202991712
This trailer gave me lots of moonrise kingdom vibes. It might do the same as moonrise kingdom during its award season (Only getting a best picture comedy nomination at the globes, Only got an origonal screenplay nomination at the oscars).July 23, 2019 at 11:39 am #1202991868

eh, it struck me more as a 3 billboards or Favourite type movie. A big showy acted but divisive satire that gets lots of noms but wins very little.July 23, 2019 at 3:21 pm #1202992602
It looks like a good fun funny movie. The trailer makes it look like a Wes Anderson film.July 24, 2019 at 3:27 pm #1202994481
Looks like a combination of Mel Brooks’ humor and Wes Anderson’s visual aesthetic, a combination I thought I’d never see.July 30, 2019 at 12:55 pm #1203002642
Jojo Rabbit will be the opening film at Fantastic Fest. Awards buzz isn’t really their focus but most years they do manage to snag a couple.
FYC: Riz Ahmed + Paul Raci (Sound of Metal)
Sidney Flanigan (Never Rarely Sometimes Always)

Still think this is big oscar contender. Could win TIFFSeptember 3, 2019 at 9:47 am #1203055531
McKenzie will be big supporting contender for this. heard she is MVP of the movie and we got sneak peak of her emotional role in the trailer. Scarlet apparently has small part in the movie.September 3, 2019 at 10:12 am #1203055616This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.September 3, 2019 at 10:18 am #1203055631
The Lead actor (Roman Griffin Davis) is adorable.September 3, 2019 at 5:56 pm #1203056408
I finally caved in and read the old script for this film, and it’s FUCKING PHENOMENAL! I’m officially super exited for this film as well, and hoping for it to do very well at the Oscars.

I know this is a weird comparison, but this is giving me similar vibes to The Favourite. Previously semi-niche yet acclaimed filmmaker has first big awards push with a slightly more accessible period piece that has both comedic and dramatic elements, and features a few big names. I doubt it’ll be nearly as nominated as The Favourite (if at all) but it seems like the type of film that the industry could really go for if executed correctly.
Thats exactly what I was thinking of when I predicted it across the board. Once they move Mackenzie to supporting, I’ll predict her too. Streep be damned.September 3, 2019 at 6:56 pm #1203056471
While I was predicting the film for a few categories before, I had some reservations about if it could really make it in. But the more I’m hearing, the more I think it’ll do pretty well. The fact that it has a strong anti hate message, and apparently manages to pull off the dramatic scenes very respectfully both seem like strong signs that Jojo Rabbit could be a real contender.
