Grace Randolph said they changed the costume designer, she said is a woman, i don’t remember her name, that would explain why it looks so diferent from Joaquin’s first design Mark Bridges always talked how he wanted to make him look sexy and boy he did it, i’m not sold on that Gaga’s look yet, i hope this is intentional, because if it’s not it would be a big letdown
I didn’t know that, whoever it was I thought they did a great job. Mark Bridges’ technical prowess was juxtaposed with a cool deconstructed style in the first film, so it’s a shame he doesn’t return for the second. I think what shines most about Gotham in any incarnation is the surrealism mixed with gothicism on all levels of characterization. Taking Harley Quinn to court, where more formal attire is mandatory and staying true to the character’s personality and style is something extremely difficult to balance and I think the costume designer did a beautiful job of that. The screaming scarlet of the suit, mixed with the black leather of the skirt, in a structured look with a touch of punk is a very striking ensemble that works coherently for the situation and remains faithful to the character’s personality. The contrast of the outfit with the hair is the icing on the cake.
This look already shows us their efficiency in separating Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn from Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. For me, this look is more dangerous and exciting than any costume that Margot Robbie wore in character, and leaves the easy Halloween costume aesthetic behind for a more intricate style.I didn’t know that, whoever it was I thought they did a great job. Lady Gaga was incredible in House of Gucci the only good thing about that messy movie. She understood the assignment and deserved the nom over Nicole Kidman and Jessica Chastain. An iconic performance.
Hopefully she can get the nom for this one.
The new costume designer that replaced Mark Bridgers is Arianne Phillips. She got Oscar nominations for Walk The Line, W.E. and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
