I’m pretty sure these articles are being dropped by the studio to gauge reaction. Rumors have been swirling around for a while and the media is just now reporting on them. Why? Because the studio gave them the go-ahead.

I think people are getting far too hung up on the word “musical”. That term evokes images of Mamma Mia or something bright and cheery, but that just won’t be the case here. It’ll be more akin to a musical in the ASIB sense where songs will be interwoven into the theme and character arcs, not flat-out dance numbers. I love the idea of Harley and The Joker’s musical numbers only ever happening when they have a break with reality.

This can work, and it can work really well with Gaga and Joaquin at the helm.

As someone who thought Joker was perfectly fine, even decent, my main issue was that I didn’t feel like it really did anything new or took any risks – yes it blended comic book storytelling with scorsese-esque drama, but I felt like it was so proud of itself just for doing that blending that it didn’t actually seem to feel any need to do anything new within those genre’s. So while yes, adding musical elements is in some ways just throwing another genre into the blender, it at least feels like a risk that might inspire something interesting.

Also if I had to guess, I’d imagine these are going to be psychosis inspired musical numbers. Essentially “hallucinated” production numbers in the minds of our leads. If that’s the case I hope that means we’ll at least be getting a real show, and if there is ANYTHING that is unequivocally true about Lady Gaga (and to some extent Phoenix) it’s that she puts on a show

I doubt this makes 1 Billion. But these movies are cheap. The first one costed only 50 Million USD. I suppose this will be costing 80-90 Million USD because Joaquin Phoenix wants a huge pay this time and Lady Gaga is expensive too

Still, 80-90 Million USD is very small/cheap compared to Avatar 2 budget and Infinity War budget and End Game budget

$120 million is on the lower end of budgets for comic book movies.

Yes. End Game costed 450 Million USD. And most Marvel movies costed 200-450

This is BS. Only Endgame costed that much and probably Infinity War.

The rest, every single one is between 150-200M

Still, 120 is small for a Superhero movie. Man of Steel costed 190. BvS costed 290. Zack Snyder’s Justice League costed 390 with all reshoots. And I love that Zack Snyder Trilogy

Going the musical route is totally shocking and inspired. Can Todd Phillips of all people pull that off? That’s the real question. Gaga’s involvement might be the only reason to do an unnecessary sequel. Let’s roll!

This is the guy who got his start by doing a documentary on GG Allin. If he goes the musical route, expect it to be along the lines of what GG Allin would do.

Speaking of which, why hasn’t there been a GG Allin biopic yet? The concept alone SCREAMS “Oscar Bait.”

    Very excited for this 🔥

I’m so here for the rumored musical direction for this sequel, if done properly could be brilliant, this project is perfect for Gaga, she will deliver 👏

I’m ready for another season fighting the Gaga haters and dupes in here with my besties Lil Tony, Babylonian, James Gibson and Anthagiox 😈
