I’ll only see anything with him if it is by a major director, otherwise I always pass. I won’t support films with abusers or enablers and age is no excuse. I didn’t behave like that in my younger years. No excuses.
I have no problem with your larger stance, but I am curious how you define “enabler.” Isn’t that extremely difficult to avoid in this industry?December 21, 2018 at 12:09 am #1202707357December 31, 2018 at 10:46 am #1202714929
“Lucy in the Sky” (Noah Hawley)
Inspired by astronaut Lisa Nowak’s bizarre 2007 true story (which the tabloids dubbed the “NASA love triangle”), Noah Hawley’s psychological sci-fi thriller brings stressed-out astronaut Lucy Cola (Natalie Portman) back to earth from space, where she was romantically involved with another astronaut (Jon Hamm). When he starts dating another woman (Zazie Beets), Cola does not take it well. Wearing a diaper like the ones the astronauts wore in space, she takes a deranged non-stop road trip across five states — with lethal weapons in her trunk. Fox Searchlight will release the anticipated film from “Fargo” series creator Hawley in the second half of 2019.March 20, 2019 at 6:38 am #1202822915
This is produced by Reese Witherspoon (& Bruna Papandrea). That makes me have faith.March 20, 2019 at 9:27 am #1202823145

Rumor is it goes to TIFF. I believe TIFF is announcing a 2nd slate of films tomorrow and that may also announce Little Women at TIFF has its trailer is also premiering tomorrow (and rumor is its also going to Telluride).August 12, 2019 at 3:38 pm #1203021114
I’ll feel a little more confident in the quality here if it’s announced for TIFF or Telluride. It’s weird because FSL, or Disney lol, actually gave it a great release date in terms of possible awards chances. I hesitate because I wonder why it took so long to date it and why did they end up actually giving it that good of a date after a couple months of silence. If it’s not announced for any of the fall fests then I feel like they’re just dumping it, but if it is announced that might change things. Portman would be FSL’s only actress push (given ScarJo and McKenzie are supporting for Jojo).August 12, 2019 at 4:11 pm #1203021153
When Adams was in the mix, I’m pretty sure they were still figuring out when to release it. So, when The Woman in the Window was not an option, they found an opening and that’s what took them so long. I’d be shocked if it didn’t hit TIFF, and then maybe a second round at Telluride. It’s for sure their Actress push for the season. I’m also betting that their waiting for reviews to fill out another trailer and some TV spots.
Also, we should all come to an agreement to acknowledge this only by its original title lol.August 13, 2019 at 3:52 pm #1203022510
Well, it’s going TIFF so that’s good news. Still a bit skeptical, not even of it’s awards chances (which would probably only be Portman), but of the quality of the film. I trust Hawley though since I love Fargo. Let’s hope it gets good reactions out of TIFF.
