This might be able to compete in all 4 acting categories. The YouTube reviews are incredible.

You need to pipe down, it’s March and the reviews are not incredible… 82 MC is good but not impressive.

Same ones who overthink Get Out and Black Panther Oscar chances are doing it again. Didn’t y’all learn? If this does similar business, it’s in for Best Picture and Original Screenplay.

Both Get Out and Black Panther were socially relevant, I haven’t watch Us but I think it’s just straight up horror. I am not saying it won’t get in but the comparison with the two other isn’t truly representative.

Those were both phenomenons. Us literally just screened at one film festival this past weekend. Just because Peele is behind this doesn’t mean it will follow the same path as Get Out.

Peele has said that “Us” isn’t about race. So I am not sure how socially relevant it is, but what you said is about how I feel right now. I’m sure it’s a good movie, but if anything Peele has a lot to live up to with everyone comparing this to Get Out, which I think could hurt him.

I want to say “Sure, Jan”, SOO BAD, but I’ll have restraint and say ok.

    .

I believe this has a chance at Screenplay, Score, and if some of the actresses in Lead don’t turn out to be as as strong, I could see Lupita getting in

Get Out has an 84 MC and got even more acclaim once critics re-evaluted it over the year.

LOL if this becomes a pop culture phenomenon like Get Out and we hear the same arguments used against Get Out and Black Panther. I don’t think it gets in Best Picture (yet) but Lupita getting raves is something to look out for. The score and cinematography are also getting constant notices.

Let’s wait and see the film and then talk about its Oscar chances.

    Bob Odenkirk for the win!

Or you can stop telling people what to do! This thread is for the movie so we can talk about it based on the reviews and scores it has gotten for critics! If you don’t like it leave and don’t read what we say!

I’m bored so here’s his information: the Rotten Tomatoes score is still at 100% (55 reviews) with the overview as: “With Jordan Peele’s second inventive, ambitious horror film, we have seen how to beat the sophomore jinx, and it is Us.” The Quartz is also calling Peele the next great director (in a sort of way: he’s not the next Spielberg, he’s the first Peele).

Lupita Nyong’o isn’t getting nominated. I just check the reviews and the only person they’re talking about is Peele. This means her performance isn’t quite impressive…
She still has a chance for the 2020’s People Choice Awards, MTV movie awards and most importantly NAACP awards.

I have seen it and her performance is indeed impressive.

Why do people want this to fail so badly? Are you aware of the optics of that position? Or is it precisely because of the optics that you would like to “stick it” to a young, black director?

Thank you for this. People wanting a movie to fail (before they’ve seen it!!!) is just such extremely sad in general.

Emmys 2019 FYC: Lena Headey ("Game of Thrones"), Cicely Tyson ("HTGAWM"), Viola Davis ("HTGAWM"), Richard Madden ("Bodyguard"), "Bodyguard," "The Haunting of Hill House" & "Escape at Dannemora" in all categories
