Oh my goodness me. Oh, Warner Bros….if I was truly confident in my tentpole movie of the entire year, there wouldn’t be a review embargo which THEY placed on JL and will be lifted only tomorrow early AM. There’d be a rotten tomatoes number 2 weeks ago. Right now, JL is a eyepopping 49 on Metacritic.
Whenever a studio keeps critics from publishing reviews of a movie in this manner, 98 times out of 100 it’s a lemon’s lemon. Seen it too many times with movies I enjoyed, most recently A Bad Moms Christmas. I think Zack Snyder effed up directing it. Lot of folks wanted him out.November 16, 2017 at 5:20 am #1202412289
I saw Justice League last night, and it was pretty satisfying. You can definitely see some shortcomings here and there, but it was enjoyable as a whole in the way that I want from superhero movies.
As for the Rottentomatoes score, it’s probably going to be a pretty run of the mill score. And I should mention that Bad Moms Christmas in particular had the rottentomatoes embargo taken out of the studio’s control by this show, the embargo was actually lifted earlier.November 16, 2017 at 6:12 am #1202412327
Ok so midnight showing was packed but damn was this movie enjoyable. A few things I’d change here and there but that post credit scene….DEAD. Injustice League is coming. Think about it: Lex (Check), Deathstroke (check), Black Adam (rumored for Suicide Squad 2 and may be The Rock), Catwoman (Gotham City Sirens is apparently happening), The Joker (Check), Poision Ivy (Gotham City Sirens), Cheetah (rumored to be the villain for WW2) and Harley Quinn (Suicide Squad and Gotham City Sirens but I get this feeling that she will be only in SS and that since people have taken a shine to her big time so making her a villain villain and not a villain with the heart of gold-ish from SS would be bad). There are other members as well but they are yet to be seen in the new movies at all. Ok so nerd rant over. Anyways, loved the cast and I cannot wait for the flash movie now. My grade: B+November 16, 2017 at 12:40 pm #1202412654
Is Superman dead? lmao

The score on the Tomatometer is now at 37%November 17, 2017 at 3:02 am #1202413266
Enjoyable movie nonetheless. Some action sequences are wonderful and i was nerding out for lots of moments. Lots of fan service done in the movie. The credits scenes are gold. Loved the flashback scene in the start and solid 1st 20mins.
negative side – i feel like there was too much stuff cut out. it suddenly jumps from scene to another with no link. CGI on some stuff is soo glaring (if you watched it you know what im talking about). The soundtrack was pretty much dead or nonexistent. It has the same villain prob as SS.
I would sum it up like one reviewer wrote. Its a beautiful mess of a movie. The characters shined in their moments and did wonderful. This movie sets up the characters well for their individual movies.
And i for one dont understand why JL is like 36% now. It wasnt epic but not thaaat bad. 50% – 60% sounds fair
id give it 7.9/10November 17, 2017 at 12:59 pm #1202413708
This may open under 100M! What the bloody hell!? What have you done WB!November 18, 2017 at 12:13 am #1202414044
It has the same villain prob as SS.
That was my major issue with the movie. I honestly would have made the villain Bizzaro or even Lex Luther if they wanted to make the vilain interesting
Yup or just make it more high stakes or at least flesh him out more.

I knew it wasnt gonna do WW numbers but now it looks like it wont even reach SS total gross in US. part of me wants it to happen so WB wake up and do some real shit with this franchise. But on the other hand its like WTF for the actors involved except affleck. Its not their fault for WB’s mess. Now no one reputable will wanna work with DC..November 18, 2017 at 6:37 am #1202414209
I liked it. Did I roll my eyes? Yes. Several times. But it was fun. I don’t think BvS was this much fun. I think that everybody is right in saying they cut way too much and some scenes just jumped to the next without context, but in general a lot of good things happened.
They have the same issues as every single comic book movie including your Holy Marvel Films that people believe are so good when they’re really not. The comedy doesn’t always work and it feels forced and there are always several weak links in the cast. Plus a villain that isn’t as impressive. However this villain was better than Hela on Thor, who aside from being played by Blanchett, didn’t have any good qualities as a villain.
Something happens midway through the film for what has to be at least 10 minutes, that I would pay to see over and over again. And if that part has CGI on it, I’ll start a Change.org campaign for it to be a special feature on the bluray without the CGI. All 10 glorious minutes. What an amazing surprise. This is something that should happen in all comic book movies after putting these actors through all that work and showing it off for a single 5 second shot.
Anyway. Actors. The Cyborg guy had some questionable moments, Ezra Miller was as good as he was bad (too many idiotic expressions, too forced, but then other times he was perfectly cast and great for the part). Jason Momoa was just perfect throughout. Affleck was better in BvS, but was still good enough here. Nice to see him in costume without the mask. Gal Gadot still needs some acting lessons, specially for the fight scenes. Her more toned down scenes were much better than on WW. Cavill had his best Superman moments ever in this film. Adams, Irons, Lane were great.
Again. It’s fun. But Snyder and Warner are in serious denial mode here. They carry a huge collective disappointment weight on their shoulders and they still won’t learn from past mistakes. Critics are overreacting of course, but audiences are listening to them.
Very sad that it won’t gross as much as it should this weekend, because it’s not bad at all. I had a better time with this than I had with Wonder Woman.November 19, 2017 at 9:36 am #1202415184
I saw Justice League on Saturday and I enjoyed it! I’m lucky to consider myself a fan of both the DC Comics and Marvel universes and I hold no biases or prejudices against either. So I went in very hopeful as I love Wonder Woman and Batman (The Christian Bale version reignited my love) and I was very pleased and entertained by the film. The audience I saw it with seemed to like the movie very much too. I know what people expect from COMIC book movies, but these are all made up super human characters doing super human things, in unbelievable world chaos scenarios. These are not meant to be Oscar fodder films, or even generate SAG best ensemble nominations. Comic book movies are suppose to be pure escapism where the viewer is suppose to suspend disbelief.
The focus on the Justice League’s box office is another weekly debate that the critics need to heckle about in an attempt to wield power over the masses who have come to rely on critics to tell them whether a film is worthy of their money/time or not. I’m glad I saw it and I would encourage others to see it too.November 21, 2017 at 12:48 pm #1202417202
I couldn’t believe it was the real movie. I mean… what a piece of garbage! They have had planned this film for decades and they deliver us this trash? What the hell was Warner Bros thinking?
I understand perfectly why it is flopping. Boring, cheap editing, bad cinematography, worst villain ever… They even had the best Batman ever (Ben Affleck IS Batman) and the perfect Wonder Woman… What a waste of money! It really sucks…
What have you done, Joss Whedon? You only did one decent movie in the MCU and you think you’re God to change Zack Snyder’s work? Who do you think you are? No wonder why you were fired from the MCU delivering shit like Age of Ultron.
I enjoyed Thor: Ragnarok a lot more than this movie. It was funnier, it had an amazing story, an amazing directing and an Oscar-worthy performance by Cate Blanchett. The DC Extended Universe is a DISASTER compared to the MCU. The only decent DC movie is Wonder Woman (and it was a generic film overpraised by female supremacists).
This year I stan: Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga, Joanna Kulig, Sam Elliott and Toni Collette (at the moment).
