So I’ve recently watched these two films and I’m wondering, were these ladies lead or supporting? Can you guys help me by answering the question?
Academy Award – Supporting (Nomination)
Screen Actors Guild Award – Supporting (Nomination) – it doesn’t really matter, though, people are nominated in the category they are submitted in
Golden Globe Award – Supporting (Won)
Bafta Film Award – Lead (Nomination)
Screen Actors Guild Award – Supporting (Nomination)
Was Kate Hudson the co-lead to Patrick Fugit in Almost Famous? Or was she just a meaty supporting player? I mean Frances McDormand or Anna Paquin are more like supporting characters than her, but Hudson is not equally as big of a lead as Fugit. I’m really mixed on this. Does the most significant female role is equal with being an actual lead?
Kate Winslet was also the most significant female in her film. But Phoenix and Rush were the leads in my opinion. I think Winslet is more of a supporting in “Quills” than Hudson in “Almost Famous”.
Hudson – debatable
Winslet – definitely supporting
Hudson and Winslet were both definitely supporting. Hudson had the second biggest role, but it was still supporting. The lead argument can most be made for the eventual victor that year.
