I want Bates to work with David O Russell so badly. She has a Melissa Leo in The Fighter ham fest waiting to sweep award season. Bates for Oscar two.

I have doubts that will ever happen. O. Russell currently has the #MeToo movement up his ass due to revelations of on-set bullying and off-set sexual abuse (including that of his own niece). Right now, he’s absolutely toxic, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he never worked in Hollywood again.

I know about his onset tirades and his desire to touch the breast of his trans niece. Last I heard he was making a streaming series with Julianne Moore and Robert De Niro.

Kathy Bates for Best Supporting Actress (Richard Jewell)

Jennifer Jason Leigh is pretty great in Dolores Claibore too. I remember some trade ads pushing her for supporting but they didn’t work. Leigh’s had a rough time Oscar wise. Only one nomination (and it was only recently) and she lost that to blatant category fraud.

No, I don’t believe it was a snub. She wasn’t scoring with the other major awards either, so I don’t see a reason for the Academy to go for her.

The real snub for that category that year was Kidman. She would’ve been a worthy substitute for either Sarandon, Stone, or Streep.

In fact, let me go further and say that either Kidman, Thompson, or Shue would’ve made a worthy substitute winner for Sarandon.

Meryl Streep actually was very deserving for the Bridges of Madison County. I would have replaced Emma Thompson.

I think that got canned because Harvey was producing. I really couldn’t care less if Russell disappeared from the entertainment industry. He sounds like a creep. There was his treatment of either extras and/or crew in that film Three Kings – George Clooney apparently pulled him aside and gave Russell a good going over about his attitude/treatment. Their is the infamous Lily Thomlin episode during the filming of I Heart Huckabees. And watch the clip on YouTube of the Best Actress presentation for 2012 BFTAs (the presentation occurred in February 2013) and the sour face that Russell pulled when Emmanuelle Riva won best actress over Jennifer Lawrence. Talk about sour grapes. Lawrence looked disappointed and I can understand that but Russells reaction would have to be one of the most ungracious I have ever seen at any of these award shows.

You got me curious. Yes he does look very annoyed and slowly claps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuWTAUCfzG0

Guess he was afraid it would turn the Oscar race in Riva’s favor. The BAFTA’s are kind of rough. They cut to all the losers for reaction shots. Most are gracious.
