I thought it was useful to create a thread about this film, since it hasn’t been created one yet, and it’s very easily probably one of the most anticipated films of next year.
A Neo-Western in the 1920s Oklahoma about the systematic murders of the Osage Nation, a wealthy Native American tribe, after big oil deposits were discovered beneath their land.
Also there are new exciting and fascinating updates about it from Eric Roth, the screenwriter who today did an interview with the outlet Collider and talked about it, and gave great and interesting informations.

April 8, 2021 at 11:52 am #1204186614So excited for this one, my EXTREMELY early nomination predictions for it are:
Best Picture
Best Director – Martin Scorsese
Best Supporting Actor – Robert De Niro
Best Adapted Screenplay
Best Cinematography
Best Film Editing
Best SoundMaybe: Leonardo DiCaprio/Jesse Plemons – not sure who is gonna be lead out of the main 3 but yeah I can see any of them getting nominated, I have De Niro in because I can see him really making something out of the character he is playing.

Second. He will get his first for The Power of the Dog.

ReplyCopy URLApril 9, 2021 at 6:42 pm #1204189099I hope this movie treats Native American characters with respect and agency. They deserve to be an active part of the story, not a plot device or window dressing for the white protagonists.
ReplyCopy URLApril 10, 2021 at 6:59 pm #1204191220I hear the Lead is The Villain played by DiCaprio. That’s interesting. A huge budgeted Western and the Lead is The Serial Killer played by DiCaprio.
ReplyCopy URLApril 11, 2021 at 3:39 am #1204191618I wonder if both DiCaprio and Plemons could go lead.

International Feature: The Worst Person in the WorldApril 11, 2021 at 8:34 am #1204191858I’m mostly pulling for Plemons to obtain a nomination, but I’d imagine the focus will be on DiCaprio and De Niro (even though they play real-life serial killers, and the Oscars just don’t award those kinds of risky performances anymore).
Also, I actually hope Scorsese retires after this film. Not because I don’t like him or anything, far from it, I’m just being realistic. Not many people are able to pull off a swan song as their final credit, but if anyone deserves that, it’s Scorsese – and he’s not getting any younger. The Irishman, being a reflective work, would have been the perfect time to hang up the coat (minus the fact the DiCaprio wasn’t in it – I mean, how hard could it have been to have him play Stephen Graham’s character?), but clearly he’s going for more. So maybe if The Irishman was a look at Scorsese’s past, maybe Killers of the Flower Moon can be a look at a future that will never be. It would be incredibly poetic, and like I said, Scorsese deserves poetic.

You haven’t even read the synopsis, have you??

Idk, Jared Leto probably got closer to a nomination playing a serial killer in a straight up bad movie than anyone wanted, and DiCaprio and De Niro are both much better respected, talented, and in a (presumably) superior movie.
ReplyCopy URLApril 11, 2021 at 12:38 pm #1204193333I think DiCaprio will go supporting even though he’ll be a co-lead, Brad Pitt and Christoph Waltz have both won Oscars that way. I also think Plemons will likely get nominated, he’s been quietly establishing himself as one of Hollywood’s best actors over the last few years and I think being the lead in a Scorsese movie will allow for awards to show him some appreciation.
