Next year in January
ReplyCopy URLApril 11, 2021 at 3:43 am #1204191622Is the January date confirmed? I know Deadline reported it would be shot in the UK early next year, but they didn’t say what month.
ReplyCopy URLApril 11, 2021 at 3:48 am #1204191630I mentioned this in another thread, but Comer is so wrong for the role and I say this as a fan. Does anyone else agree? Marion Cotillard would have been better, and she’s already worked with Scott before. Comer must have really impressed him with her TLD performance now that they’re going to be doing another film together. Something like Free Guy isn’t going to boost her career, so I understand why she signed up for TLD and now Kitbag. The role still should have gone to an older actress IMO.

Yeah, but if she nails the voice work or mannerisms of an older woman, she’s going to be more than competitive for the acting nomination.

I mean yes but this is from a man who said these quotes about exodus.
“I don’t make films for other people, I make films for me. And so far, it’s pretty good because I’m still here after 35 years. So there’s a good expression, ‘Fuck you very much.”
“I can’t mount a film of this budget, where I have to rely on tax rebates in Spain, and say that my lead actor is Mohammad so-and-so from such-and-such.”
I don’t think half of the cast would sign up for that film if it came out today and that was only 6 years ago.
Honestly the main goal is the movie to be entertaining in his eyes. Historical inaccuracies would already put people off so not the best of start, seems like this and killers of the flower moon are Apple’s 2023 oscar big hitters so far, so I’d expect a notable names for this movie.
ReplyCopy URLApril 11, 2021 at 8:40 am #1204191866As i said in another thread i think Kitbag will come out in 2023, not 2022, despite Scott being fast, because they already have Flower Moon as their main push for that year.
That’s because there’s no way Apple will want to make compete these two big budget epics with each other in the same year and awards season, these two films would hurt each other’s awards season chances.

They will prioritize KOTFM for next year due to the filmmakers, cast, and importance of the subject matter and because it’s already starting to shoot this month. So it’s more logical for them to delay the Napoleon movie to 2023.April 11, 2021 at 9:50 am #1204192112I mean yes but this is from a man who said these quotes about exodus. “I don’t make films for other people, I make films for me. About the Exodus budget he was right. The initial budget of Exodus was 200 million dollars and he only 200 million dollars because he got Bale after TDK Trilogy. Ridley Scott is 100% a businessman so when he talks about budgets or money he is right. And he is kind of right about his first quote: Most Directors only care about their personal preferences and nothing more

You could be right. We will see. Apple has way more money than Disney and Netflix and the rest. If Apple wants 2 huge campaigns in the same year, they have the money for it
ReplyCopy URLApril 12, 2021 at 12:48 am #1204195145I hear they will use CGI for young Joaquin Phoenix. Like The Irishman. Joaquin Phoenix is way younger than Robert De Niro so I hope it looks way better. I hated the CGI in The Irishman. They want Joaquin Phoenix Gladiator young looks for some scenes

Not’s discussed enough how misogynistic how the tendencies to cast younger women (20s) in older roles, that subconsciously puts that idea “oh they’ve already played old for 10 years, why would we want her as a 40 year old now”.
This year alone saw Carey Mulligan (34) portray a 55 year old a decade after she broke out playing a 17 year old (An Education).

It could work, it looked great in Robert Downey jr

Agreed, and also the age gap with Gary Oldman and his on-screen wife in Mank.

Yeah that age gap was completely pointless.
There are times when its accurate – for example in The Last Duel Jodie and Matt Damon have an age gap accurate to the real people they’re playing – but Mank is just egregious. The real Mankiewicz got married at 22 and they’re casting someone 30 years younger than Oldman as his wife?
