Kristen Stewart is officially set to play Princess Diana in an upcoming biopic titled Spencer.
Pablo Larraín, who famously directed 2016’s Jackie that earned Natalie Portman an Oscar nomination, will helm the project. Steven Knight wrote the screenplay for the film and it is currently being eyed to start production in early 2021.
According to reports, the plot of Spencer focuses on a particular weekend in the early 1990s during Christmas when Diana makes the decision to separate from her marriage to Prince Charles. Thoughts?

This is so poorly timed. Were gonna see Diana’s story on The Crown shortly. When Darkest Hour came out around the same time as the first season with Churchill, at least it was centered around a period of his life that wouldn’t be seen on the show.June 17, 2020 at 1:06 pm #1203538973
That casting director needs to get fired.June 17, 2020 at 1:10 pm #1203538977

Kristen Stewart is so talented! Can’t wait to see what she does with the role.June 17, 2020 at 1:24 pm #1203539005
Kristen Stewart is a talented actress, but she has a very… specific charisma that is simply not suitable for Princess Diana.June 17, 2020 at 1:40 pm #1203539043This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.June 17, 2020 at 1:43 pm #1203539053
She is a good actress on good projects so why not.

Not everyone watches or cares about The CrownJune 17, 2020 at 1:52 pm #1203539073
actress of the decade getting the girls pressed once again! we love to see itJune 17, 2020 at 1:57 pm #1203539083
This is really bizarre casting, but the premise sounds great and Pablo at the helm is very promising. Jackie was brilliant, so maybe he’ll be able to get the same type of performance out of Stewart, even if she’s not on the same level as Portman.June 17, 2020 at 2:14 pm #1203539120
Pablo Larraín! But Kristen Stewart and Steven Knight. Hmm.June 17, 2020 at 2:15 pm #1203539133
just like olivia colman’s career I’m ready for the Kstew Sweep 🙏🏻
Colman has an Oscar, 3 Golden Globes, 4 BAFTAs, and talent. StEWart has what exactly? A Razzie, 4 Kid’s Choice Awards, and a bad haircut?
Stop stanning mediocrity.

I don’t think Natalie and Kristen ever did similar roles for you all to compare them.June 17, 2020 at 2:23 pm #1203539191
Well, this devolved into anarchy at a much slower rate than I imagined.
I think this could be interesting. Stewart does tortured and introverted well, and folks tend to forget she has won a Cesar award and critics awards for Clouds of Sils Maria.
However, I’m in the Gold Derby minority in that I didn’t love Jackie, so I will be interested in how it turns out.
