TRAILER came out today. From Amazon Studios and Richard Linklater.

    Looks like a contender!

I feel like one of those three actors is getting an Oscar nomination.

I say more than one of them will get in… this is going all the way.

Carrell and Cranston definitely look like co-leads and Fishburne looks supporting.

Id be here for a Fishburne nomination. Maybe even Carell. But Cranston doesn’t need anymore. His first one was already fucked up.

My gut says this only winds up with a screenwriting nod. That said, I’m intrigued to see where Carell lands, category-wise. Does he strategically go Supporting for this and Lead for Battle, in the hopes of two nominations?

Linklater had multiple nominations as a screenwriter, so An Adapted Screenplay nomination should be considered as well.

Other stars in the film include Yul Vasquez and Cicely Tyson.

Is he the lead in Battle? That seems like Stone’s veichle. I could see him going Lead for this and supporting for that.

All of them are rooting for their second Oscar nomination

The Battle of the Sexes trailer pretty much have Stone and Carell equal weight, plus they don’t have to compete with each other unlike Carell and Cranston for this. With the limited information we have, Andrew’s scenario sounds more likely to me.

I’ve just realised how grammatically terrible the first sentence of my above post was. I was rushing and it’s almost unreadable, but it’s too late to edit it now, that would be dishonest. Lol

Carell seems like the type of beloved actor prime for a Supporting Actor win, ESPECIALLY in a jackpot year like this. Kudos to his agents. Plus increasing acclaim following Foxcatcher & The Big Short (after ongoing love for his television work.)

Screenplay is a strong contender here. After going empty-handed for Boyhood, this seems like the chance to award Richard Linklater.

Nice job predicting the Oscar future of Last Flag Flying, my sentiments exactly. I think Carell goes Supporting for LFF to avoid splitting votes with Bryan Cranston for their same movie, and goes Lead as the co-lead of Battle of the Sexes, just like Ryan Gosling went lead as Emma Stone’s co-lead in La La Land.

For your Goldderby Film Awards consideration: Isle of Dogs for every category, especially Music
    Score for Alexandre Desplat!
