You’re not gonna get revenue if your movies only showing in 2800 Theatres (same numbers as Green Knight and if 11 Years ago is still relevant comparison, Scott Pilgrim)

Thats less than most major horror release this year like Candyman, Old, Conjuring despite its aggresive marketing campaign.

Best Director: Edgar Wright, Guillermo Del Toro, Jane Campion
Best Picture: Nightmare Alley, The Power of the Dog

Best Actor: Benedict Cumberbatch, Bradley Cooper
Best S. Actress: Cate Blanchett, Diana Rigg, Anya Taylor Joy

Honey,  all those films you have mentioned doesn’t have an up and coming star featured that over 60 million people watched last year and became instant fans of. I’m not saying this will kill it, but 2800 theaters isn’t bad for opening weekend at all. This film’s star and director is already ahead of Candyman, it won’t be as disliked as Old, and people were sick of the Conjuring series. The numbers show that. It was successful, but nowhere near the first two installments.

Perhaps, but lets not pretend that more theatres=more potential earnings. For all the marketing push that Focus give for this movie (Correct me if im wrong but Ive never seen they campaign this hard for a movie before), you would expect them to open in at least 3.000 Theatres. Unless this has something to do with all the franchises that sandwich-ed them (Dune, Venom, Jackass and Halloween Kills), they really needs to fire their distribution team.

Box office projections aren’t looking great for Soho at the minute.

Miss Joy is still a nobody unfortunately. She will get there. Let young actors grow.

You’re funny. 8 million followers on IG and over 60 million people viewed her show. I’d hardly say she is a nobody lol.

Do you understand how fame works these days? Sure you can have 8 million followers on Instagram, but only like 5% of those people will actually pay for your work (judging by the less than $5 million this is tracking).

Where is this 5 million figure tracking from? It’s only Monday people LOL. The film doesn’t release in the States until Thursday.

The reaching in here, I swear.

Anyways… I’m not really sure on how this would play out financially… Maybe 2.800 Theatres could be attributed to the fact that this is Focus Features release, compared to Old, Candyman and Halloween Kills, all of which are major studio distribution (Universal) that managed to get released in 3.000 theatres on Opening weekend.

I just found their rollout strategy is a bit strange+Im not sure whether people goes out for Movies in Halloween weekend.

Dior announced that Anya will be a global ambassador for fashion & makeup. Not surprising given the fact she wore Dior dresses and makeup during the past awards season for Queen’s Gambit. Her pink outfit at Venice was also Dior (my favorite look of hers to date). Reminder: the film’s premiere will be tonight at the Academy Museum and she’ll also appear on James Corden’s show. Tomorrow she’ll appear on Ellen’s show.

The good thing about Soho (commercially) is that it cost $40 million to make so even if it opens at 5 million in the US (during a pandemic) it’s not going to be a massive flop like The Last Duel.
