Anyone remember who was at the top of the charts for Drama Actor and Actress? I remember Close being a surprise so was Gaga number one? How about for the men?

If I’m remembering correctly, Gaga and Cooper were both at #1.

I recall both Gaga and Cooper were seen as the frontrunners for the Globes. I predicted Close’s win, but I was completely shocked at Rami’s. By that point, I thought the only people who had a shot at beating Bradley were Bale and Viggo, and since they were in a  different category at the Globes, I thought that Cooper’s win was pretty much inevitable.

Is there a way to check? I can’t tell if you are being sarcastic or wishful.

Navigating this site admittedly can be tricky for newbies, but you have have written hundreds of articles for us over the last several years.

Always err on the side of sarcasm .

These are interesting perspectives as not being here most of those rankings wouldn’t have occurred to me.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure that most people were predicting an ASIB sweep (a few were even foolishly predicting Cooper for Director)

But I also recall some rumors about HFPA disliking ASIB while stanning for BR so I wasn’t too shocked at Rami’s win. That Drama Picture was a total shocker though, truly an horrific choice

I think many people also predicted HFPA to split the love between the double-nominated Adams and King, with Amy winning on the movie side and King on the TV side for her Emmy-winning performance. At that point King’s campaign was in danger after the surprising SAG snub. I was surprised and happy that HFPA still chose her

Gee Riley you are so nice in person…I guess babypook is right. I’ll err on the side of sarcasm in the future.

For other people wondering it looks like if you go to your name and then prediction accuracy (not past predictions as I was doing) you can see the past results. Live and learn I guess. Never noticed that link before.

When looking back at my predictions just now, I oddly called Malek’s win at the time and I correctly forecasted that A Star Is Born wouldn’t win(I predicted Black Klansman though and had Bohemian Rhapsody in last place-go figure) while I got Best Actress Drama wrong by predicting Gaga but I had a feeling Close would win that night. I got Colman’s win right but I predicted The Favourite would win Best Musical Or Comedy and Best Screenplay. I also predicted Lin Manuel Miranda for Best Actor in the comedy/musical category and Spike Lee for Director as the globes like to throw curveballs as well as WTFs at us every year.

    I always enjoy disappointing him.

I wonder if Gaga hadn’t won for American Horror Story if she would have won for A Star is Born. Interesting to think how that would affected SAG. Without the Globe boost Close probably would not have gained traction. Colman vs. Gaga I guess.

Colman would have been the obvious frontrunner. The industry was not willing to give Gaga an acting Oscar. If Colman managed to win over Close, she would have been a lock for the win for months.
