Lead or Supporting: Candice Bergen in Let Them All Talk

In my opinion, this is a lead performance (but I wouldn’t be mad if she’s considered supporting). She has tons of screentime, her own storyline and when I finished the film I felt she was even more important than Meryl’s character.

What do you think?

I think Streep, Wiest, and Bergen are all co-lead, but it makes sense for Streep to be lead and Wiest and Bergen supporting. They all drive the plot, but none as much as Streep.

The film is more of an ensemble with the three ladies. Bergen and Wiest are supporting. Streep could go either way, especially considering the ending. I’m not sure I would say the film has a true lead but if I had to choose it would be Streep’s Alice Hughes. She is the driving force and connects all of the characters, without her there is no film, the same can’t be said about the other two.
