Pitt is co-lead and his actions are just as important as Leo’s in the movie. If this were a romance between the two, nobody would be saying that he’s supporting.

Darlings, he was definitely a lead. And he even was the one who fought the Mansons while Shouty’s character was in the swimming pool lmao. Shirtless is a lead. Plain and simple.

As a famous singer said, "ain't nobody gonna Thatcher, Thatcher, Thatcher!"

Pitt is Supporting and not any amount of screentime can change that.  Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is DiCaprio story from start to finish.

The Oscar needs to get rid of the preferential ballot so it can name a deserving movie as Best Picture again.

I mean he is supporting to Leo’s character. That’s made clear at the top. Sure he has his own arc but his story is intertwined with ricks. That’s my measure on lead v supporting. Not screen time.

I don’t agree. Cliff Booth felt as protagonist as Dalton. Especially when he has his own arc, which is at the end the most defining one of the three as he’s the one connected with the Manson family. This one was a movie with two protagonists. Period.

    A brave, feminist woman.

This. And I don’t get the Waltz comparisons:

Pitt and DiCaprio had their own story arcs with large parts of the movie focusing on one of them. Waltz shares 100% of his screentime with Foxx which revolves on getting Django wife back.

Both movies share a big and impactful ending. OUATIH is clearly most connected to Pitt’s arc, not DiCaprio and he is the focus while DiCaprio chills in the swimming pool. Waltz has lots of screentime but is nowhere to be found at the end.

Co-lead and too bad they didn’t have the guts to go Damon/Bale way. Makes you appreciate the latter duo even more.

Pitt is a co-lead and he gave the better performance period. I would have nominated him for Best Actor.
