My take: she is definetely supporting and would probably have won the Oscar if she was nominated in the right category, I think. Amazing performance, but she’s not even close to be a lead actress in Casino.

I’d say Lorraine Bracco, who played a veeeery similar role to Sharon Stone in Goodfellas, was more of lead than Stone, and she was still supporting.

She’s the female lead. But almost every other role occupied by either a girl or a woman has very minimal dialogue. Had she went supporting she would have swept the season. But understandable why she went lead just for the satisfaction that she is a leading lady.

Remembered watching it two years ago for the first time and asking myself, “this is a leading role? No way.”

I can say that about a lot of female lead performances in the 90s unfortunately.

I just love movies. And awards.
