RANDOM thing I want to bring up tonight, but every time Leo DiCaprio was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role, there is always a corresponding Supporting Actor nom. Coincidence? Hell yeah. Am I gonna read too much into it? You betcha.

2004- The Aviator with Alan Alda
2006- Blood Diamond with Djimon Hounsou
2013- The Wolf of Wall Street with Jonah Hill
2015- The Revenant with Tom Hardy
2019- Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with Brad Pitt

Thoughts? You notice this quirk with another multi-nominated performer?

Darlings, neither Shouty DiCaprio nor Shirtless Pitt deserve nods. They are the epitome of bad acting (Shouty overacts, Shirtless underacts).

As a famous singer said, "ain't nobody gonna Thatcher, Thatcher, Thatcher!"

Every time Jack Nicholson won an Oscar, there was a corresponding Best Actress winner.

Oooh yes, and there’s multiple performers nominated with him for those three films.

It’s a shame nobody got nominated with him for A Few Good Men though because every single one nomination (not including the very first one and AFGM) is always with other people too.

This is a challenging question you propose, because as usual I agree and disagree.
Jonah Hill deserved that nod, but this is subjective and applies to all of them. Often a film perceived as a serious contender for BP gets the benefit of the doubt by elevating a co-star to support the worthiness of Leo or any other Lead, but this can also compromise both of their chances. It’s a grey area which relates to everything.
I loved Blood Diamond, because it exposed the reality of that diamond we’re wearing usually unaware of the blood and lives of innocent exploited children. So from my perspective Hounsou deserved that nomination.
So it could be coincidence or it could be exactly as you say.
You’ve sparked conversation and that’s a great thing in my humble opinion.

Leonardo DiCaprio is just a spoiled man who won’t take risks and will always collaborate with the biggest directors. It’s no surprise more than one person in his films get nominated.

    Dude,he cant take risks.

He has a Mega-Superstar tag to him and still is biggest box office draw.Working indie or arthouse movies will end that.

I think until he has his box office power,he will work with biggest directors and biggest director get total package by casting him so it is a win-win

RANDOM thing I want to bring up tonight, but the four times that Leo DiCaprio was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role, there is always a corresponding Supporting Actor nom. Coincidence? Hell yeah. Am I gonna read too much into it? You betcha.

Jonah and Tom were surprise-ish nominees too. So that’s good news for Brad Pitt (he’s one of the frontrunners already though but still, that means the distinction will hold if both get nominated this time). Thoughts? You notice this quirk with another multi-nominated performer?

He is not only one, there are many actors who get nominated with co-stars also getting the nod so he is no exception.Great artists elevates each other’s game.

Darlings, neither Shouty DiCaprio nor Shirtless Pitt deserve nods. They are the epitome of bad acting (Shouty overacts, Shirtless underacts).

If you didn’t have selective hatred and disliking of certain artists you would have known that both DiCaprio and Pitt will be very deserving nominees.

Their performances and charm elevated movie alot and I can’t imagine any other duo for Rick and Cliff with this much ease and perfection.

Until LITTLE CHILDREN, every single time Kate Winslet was nominated for an Oscar, someone else won one for the film

SENSE AND SENSIBILITY – Adapted Screenplay
    TITANIC – 11 wins
    ISIS – Supporting Actor
ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND – Original Screenplay

But LITTLE CHILDREN brought an end to that and it didn’t work for STEVE JOBS either (though by then, Kinslet had a win of her own).

Hammer should be a 3 time nominee by now

DiCaprio will take more risks now he has his Oscar. For example, OUATIH is a more comedic role for him.

That is true. BUT is he the only one who managed to get nominated along with a supporting male costar every single time that he is a Lead Actor nominee? That’s the question.

    Is this a porn thread?
