The girls are all campaigning for Oscar nominations while Timmy is campaigning to be cast as a future Disney prince

Darlings, the Chalamet will have to fight to look straight in the eyes of the audience. That would be his win.

You guys here on Goldderby are calling it best film ever with your reactions. You guys gave it dedicated slots in every possible category. You all dislike Harriet but are praising this boring costume stuff with a very poor trailer because it’s from a white woman.

This is straight-up misogynistic.  Stick to your Tarantino/Nolan dudebro flicks.

First reactions are slowly being released, looks like its a contender to say the least

@ErikWeber: First #LittleWomen reax is in, spoke with SAG Nominating Committee member who saw it tonight calling it “great”, praising Gerwig’s direction as “distinct in vision”, describing Saoirse Ronan’s performance as “fierce”, expects “numerous #Oscars nominations”

I had my doubts, but I am willing to welcome back this prodigal daughter of my first Oscars predictions this year. I underestimated Saoirse Ronan, which was a mistake I made with Lady Bird before.

    For Your Consideration:

Best Picture: Weathering With You, Parasite, The Lighthouse
Best Supporting Actor: Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse
Best Animated Feature: Weathering With You, Promare
Best International Film: Weathering With You, Parasite

Hopefully another player(s) in the mix!!! Yay!
    Next comes the reviews.
I don’t have as much confidence in a nomination for Gerwig, backlash or no.
    Guess we’ll see.

There was never really any doubt this would be a player, it’s just a question of how big it’ll be. Above the line noms, hopefully BA, SA (Pugh not Streep, in an ideal world), adapted screenplay and possibly BD and BP. Looking forward to hearing more tonight.

Embargo’s are lifted this PM, right?

    Have you seen it?

    No

in ideal world to you,i want streep to get a nomination not that random chick

Yes, in an ideal world to me. It’d be disappointing if Streep got in for playing Aunt March unless the role is made into something it isn’t in the novel, she has very little to do. And Pugh would be anything but random – her career has been moving towards a moment like this for some time.

Gurl…in what world should Streep get in over Pugh when the latter obviously outacts her in their movie just because her name is Meryl Streep? And Pugh has already given a performance this year that has knocked out a good chunk of Streep’s noms this decade (if not all). The disrespect towards Florence I-

I have expected this to be a major player from the get go. The signs simply are there.

Female acting categories aside: to be fair to Chalamet, if his role is anything close to the original book, he could be a contender. It’s a layered and emotional part that provides ample opportunities for scenery-chewing acting. I’m not predicting him, and he is an underdog to be sure, but it’s a bit foolish to write him off at this point.

I think Chalamet is being written off because the early reactions were kind to basically the entire cast but him.

He was called “hilarious”, “entertaining”, and “good”, with one or two people saying his acting is “too modern” and/or he was “miscast”. Those are kind words for the most part, and certainly not nearly bad enough to write him off yet.
