Ugh, mixed feelings about this. The cast is obviously great but I just feel like it doesn’t work. Timothée as Laurie is a no, as much as I like him. Stone is too old to play any of the March sisters, I mean come on. Ronan as Jo is fine, I guess, though no one will touch Ryder imo. This remake is just unnecessary, especially when there was a miniseries just this year. Keep the cast, get a new story.

Did they just look over Lucas Hedges and go straight to give the role to Timothee?
Timothee looks much more the description of Laurie (who I assume he’s playing) than Lucas. Dark curly hair, dark brown eyes, part-Italian, looks like Christian Bale. I think it’ll be interesting seeing Saoirse reject Timothee a second time in a Gerwig film.June 29, 2018 at 9:08 pm #1202576867
Ronan is 10x better than Ryder as an actress.
The summary of the relationship in Lady Bird is that she rejects him? I don’t know if I would agree with that.June 29, 2018 at 9:42 pm #1202576878
I am scared to look at other comments because I don’t know anything outside of the basic premise about Little Women. I have never seen any versions of the story nor have I read the book. I’m looking forward to seeing this movie as my first experience with the story and hope it turns out great.June 30, 2018 at 6:50 am #1202577059
This could be really good or end up being just another version of Little Women (like the less than popular version made in 1978). Either way I’ll see itJune 30, 2018 at 7:05 am #1202577064
The more Timothée Chalamet, the better.June 30, 2018 at 8:15 am #1202577113
How many Little Women movies are there already? hahahaJune 30, 2018 at 8:36 am #1202577124
lmao, there’s another one coming out in 2018 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6495094/
And the irony is, a modern-day retelling of “Little Women” could be something novel and interesting in the right hands and distinguish itself from all the other film versions. If Greta went in this direction, I might be intrigued. But from director Clare Niederpruem with exactly two credits to her name, hell no. Even the poster art looks insufferable.June 30, 2018 at 8:42 am #1202577126

Movies: 1917, 1918, 1933, 1949, 1978, 1994, this new one, the other one mentioned in this thread.
TV: 1958, 1970, 2017, two animaes, a 2012 loosely adapted Christmas film, and 2018.
It’s been done. A lot.June 30, 2018 at 3:34 pm #1202577296
This won’t give Chalamet a nomination. I suspect Ronan will be the only acting nominee, with Streep as a likely possibility for supporting.
