The infamous best picture win. I’m just curious what people who were following the Oscars back then thought was it as big of an upset like Green Book winning a while ago. Does anybody actually think this movie even deserved to be nominated for best picture because I for sure as fuck don’t. What do you all think, do you love or loath it?

    Love,

Let’s be real: Most people hate on “Crash” because it beat BM.

It’s understandable. But “Crash” is still a very good film. With some amazing performances by a top notch ensemble cast.

The cinematography, editing, and score are also memorable. Plus, there are certain scenes I will never forget.

BM is the better movie. But “Crash” isn’t as awful as the Internet tries to make it seem.

Crash is “loathed” because it beat Brokeback Mountain. Had it been a case where it beat any other film, nobody would “loathe” it. But, you know, it beat the gay movie everybody wanted to see win because it was better (of course it was) and it was gonna make history and so on.

Yes, Crash is a terrible winner with Brokeback right there, but it doesn’t mean the movie is awful.

I think a third option with something like “It’s okay”, “It’s good” should’ve been on the poll. Because I don’t love it today, but I know I don’t and never did loathe it.

    Loathe.

It may have beat Brokeback Mountain but I wasn’t even in love with that movie either.

CRASH was a horrible winner because it was an overwrought film that didn’t even deserve to be nominated anyway.

I recently went back and rewatched several clips from the film and was actually amazed at how much I still cringed at them.

Loathe because Crash is a bad movie. Apparently institutional racism doesn’t exist in Crash’s universe. Not to mention that the characters are thinly drawn and poorly written. They don’t even act like humans.

I don’t loathe it but it should not have beaten Brokeback.
