Starring Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield, the film takes a look at the lives of fallen televangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker.
Looks like a major Best Actress and Make up contender.
Thoughts?

June 2, 2021 at 3:08 pm #1204283909Garfield will go supporting. Just a hunch since vehicles propping up female characters are rarely seen as dual partnerships for prizes. I’m just glad Chastain is back.

I’m also wondering if she still has supporters that will complain about any negative depecictions in it….god I hope not but it’s a weird world out there
ReplyCopy URLJune 2, 2021 at 5:41 pm #1204284126Jessica Chastain will probably be the best part about the movie.

MainstreamAndrew Garfield is very easily the most underrated actor of his generation, and he lowkey built a terrific body of work throughout the years.

He should be regarded at the same level of actors of his same age range like Adam Driver and Robert Pattinson.
I hope with this movie he gets another Oscar nomination.June 4, 2021 at 4:18 pm #1204286891This movie will need to stomp in order for Chastain to snatch, and that’s not happening, so I’ll just be rooting for her to simply make an Oscars comeback with the nod. This year looks so weak McDormand is literally coming for 4th Oscar.
. I think she has four already: Fargo, 3bem, n, and bp for nomad land

Ok I’ll bite. With at least about twenty performances plausibly gunning for a win, most of them by huge stars, I need you to explain how this year looks weak.
This is just the tip of the iceberg:
Margot Robbie, Amsterdam (or Canterbury Glass or whatever the movie’s called)
Ana de Armas, Blonde
Halle Berry, Bruised
Frances McDormand, The Tragedy of Macbeth
Jennifer Hudson, Respect
Kirsten Dunst, The Power of the Dog
Florence Pugh, Don’t Worry Darling
Jessica Chastain, The Eyes of Tammy Faye
Marion Cotillard, Annette
Amanda Seyfried, A Mouthful of Air
Kristen Stewart, Spencer
Lady Gaga, House of Gucci
Cate Blanchett, Nightmare Alley
Vanessa Kirby, Italian Studies
Olivia Colman, The Lost Daughter
Jennifer Lawrence, Don’t Look Up
Martha Plimpton, Mass
Rachel Zegler, West Side Story
Thomasin McKenzie, Last Night in Soho
Tessa Thompson, Passing
Tilda Swinton, Three Thousand Years of Longing
Ruth Negga, Passing
Juliette Binoche, Fire
Sandra Bullock, Unforgiven
Emilia Jones, Coda
Naomi Harris, Swan Song
Abigail Breslin, Stillwater
Jennifer Lawrence, Red, White and WaterAs for Chastain, I agree that The Eyes of Tammy Faye is probably not the movie to get her an Oscar, but it could be the movie that catapults her back in the awards game the way she was a few years ago. The Good Nurse seems baity and could further solidify her status next year.

June 9, 2021 at 9:13 am #1204293033I can literally at the moment can see this going two ways, this flops and becomes forgotten, or is mid range decent and snatches her the Oscar ala Renee Zellweger

I think the makeup artists who remember Tammy Faye Bakker and what she looked like will secure it a makeup nomination, in the least, and I agree that Jes will be a strong contender to get nominated as well.

The makeup style is accurate sure but the prosthetics look… not great.
ReplyCopy URLJune 9, 2021 at 10:38 am #1204293204I’m impressed with the trailer. It’s the tone that I’m expecting given that it is directed by Michael Showalter. I can see Jessica Chastain being an Oscar contender.
