@wolfali do you know if SAG voters have received digital or physical screeners yet for the film?

Also, has anyone seen any FYC ads yet for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”?

Physical and yes they’ve been sent (if images from Twitter are to be believed). I believe Luca shared them.

I have seen FYC Ads online (but I can’t embed them as they are pop up ads).

FYC OSCARS : PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN IN ALL CATEGORIES (ESP. ACTRESS – Carey Mulligan AND ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY — EMERALD FENNELL), VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", ESSIE DAVIS FOR "BABYTEETH"

Great! I know Netflix is usually very diligent about their campaigning. I just hadn’t seen anything.

Just watched the Goldderby interview with Glynn Turman. I sure hope he gets a further push from Netflix. He deserves it!

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom won 4 awards with the Black Film Critics Circle today!

The THR Roundtable discussion for actors dropped. I hope Viola is apart of the actress roundtable. Mainly because she’s such an eloquent speaker, and she has such a presence about her.

Someone needs to remind the HFPA that it’s been 36 years since they’ve awarded an African-American actress, and the only time, I might add, in Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama. It’s that time!

That shit doesn’t matter to them. See Lupita losing to J-Law.

M, I think Somenelikeme was zeroing in on the Best Actess categories at the Golden Globes. Off the top of my head, I can at least think of: Whoopi Goldberg, Jennifer Hudson, Mo’Nique, Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis, and Regina King. Far better track record than in Actress-Drama where there’s only Whoopi. Lol

Goldberg and Bassett both won the lead actress categories at the Globes which says more about them than the Academy overall.

Great day overall for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom with various award nominations, etc!

Also, I learned today that Cicely Tyson’s “Just as I Am: book has been released, and narrated by Cicely Tyson, Viola Davis, and Robin Miles. Come on Grammy nomination next year for “ Best Spoken Word Album (Includes Poetry, Audio Books & Storytelling)!

    Grammy winner Viola Davis 😉

    Love the sound of that.
