Brett Ratner and Universal are coming together to make the Madonna Bio pic based off the 2016 Black list script, Blond Ambition.
There’s no word on when production will begin or who is directing it, but I know who should star… Dianna Agron.
She is a talented actress and singer. She looks like young Madonna and she has a very similar singing voice. However, Natalie Portman can also sing very well so I could see that working as well.
What are your thoughts?April 25, 2017 at 10:52 am #1202076038
Depends on what madonna era they’re covering. If they’re covering up to the Blonde Ambition tour (based on the title). Madonna would’ve been in her early 30’s so maybe Evan Rachel Wood? Hopefully they get her blessing to use her music and not end up like the Britney and Aaliyah Razzie award worthy Biopics.April 25, 2017 at 11:10 am #1202076064
Nina Arianda.April 25, 2017 at 11:21 am #1202076080
The script topped the Blacklist? :-O Wow. Casting will be intense for this role.April 25, 2017 at 11:57 am #1202076136
Agron and Arianda would be rather solid, but my first choice has to be Imogen Poots. With a fairly fresh filmography, she has already balanced lighthearted comedies and serious dramas, giving two of the best performances you didn’t see last year in Green Room and especially Terrence Malick’s Knight of Cups.
And not only does she have the age for early ’80s Madge and singing capabilities (as well as the British accent to turn on and off), but there are some pictures of Imogen where she looks exactly like Madonna. She’d be perfect casting!April 25, 2017 at 12:12 pm #1202076164

I believe it is the era of her famous Like a Virgin performance.April 25, 2017 at 12:14 pm #1202076170
Ooh. Well that’s unfortunate Madonna doesn’t look like she’s going to give her blessings.April 25, 2017 at 12:58 pm #1202076225
The script, at least the description on the Black List, is very early Madonna, before her first or second album. So no to Nina Arianda who is older than Madonna at that point. Diana Agron could work. But I did raise an eyebrow when I read Imogene Poots. That cold work better than Agron.April 25, 2017 at 1:21 pm #1202076237
I suggested Evan Rachel Wood because she would be a similar age to Madonna at that point (as well as her performance in Thirteen being the rebel child) well Madonna would be around 24-26 but Madonna has an older face. If we were to cast someone similar age to that Madonna period, only person I can think of on top of my head is J-LawApril 25, 2017 at 1:24 pm #1202076240
Imagine Elvis Presley’s granddaughter/Michael Jackson’s stepdaughter playing Madonna. Can’t get more legendary than that.April 25, 2017 at 1:37 pm #1202076248
Regardless who plays Madonna imma be cackling if they get nominated for an Oscar since Madonna herself failed to get an Oscar nomination in song or acting for Evita.April 25, 2017 at 3:32 pm #1202076321
Imogen Poots. Case closed. 😉April 25, 2017 at 3:45 pm #1202076324
