What categories do guys believe Mank will be nominated for?
ReplyOctober 20, 2020 at 3:29 pm #1203792212Based on the poster, Dance and Seyfriend are definitely the major supporting contenders.

I can still imagine a Burke nod. But everything we’re seeing indicates Dance will be the film’s major player in that category.
Same can be applied to Seyfried (Dance) and Collins (Burke).
ReplyCopy URLOctober 20, 2020 at 5:39 pm #1203792541I can see Burke being very similar to Sam Rockwell in Vice. Where even if he isnt in the film that much, he can still get nominated off of recognition of his role alone. Like I said before, the Academy sure does love Orsen.
ReplyCopy URLFYC Oscars: Licorice Pizza (Best Picture, Best Director, Original Screenplay), The Mitchells vs The Machines (Best Picture, Animated Feature, Original Screenplay), Wes Anderson (Best Director), Denzel Washington (The Tragedy of MacBeth), Andrew Garfield and Robin de Jesus (Tick, Tick...BOOM!), Jayne Houdyshell (The Humans), Stephen Karam (Adapted Screenplay), Attica and Summer of Soul (Best Documentary)
FYC Razzies: Dear Evan Hansen (in all eligible categories)

Yes, but Burke has a few extra objects in his way, since unlike Rockwell, he’s an unknown, he didn’t win the previous year, and he apparently has an internal competitor with a larger role and better performance in play.

There’s a new website with some neat pictures and snippets of the score.

I agree 100%
A film based on Orson Welles during the Citizen Kane era is Oscar bait for any actor portraying him. No matter how limited the role is.

👑Mary Wilson (1944-2021)October 21, 2020 at 2:23 pm #1203794715So, I guess the chances of this film to win an acting Oscar just got a huge boost.
It definitely makes sense if some are predicting 3 or 4 acting nominations, now it technically could end up being the frontrunner of one.

Yea if Kaluuya doesn’t go supporting then I see either Dance or Rylance winning, but if Kaluuya drops in supporting then I feel like he is a lock for a win at this point.

I’d give it an outside chance to double up in one or both Supporting Categories too. Collins looks good in the trailer, and there’s quite a few uncertain spots in that race. As has been said above, Burke is playing Orson Welles in a movie revolving around Citizen Kane. That category seems very weak, so a double up isn’t out of the cards there.
That would take it to 14/15 nods, which I think ties/ breaks the record – this isn’t too drastic to predict though, given it’s a massive film in a year with serious dearth of major contenders.
I think it will win quite a few – I currently have it first for Director, Original Screenplay, Editing, Cinematography, Production Design and Costumes.

ThanksWatch Citizen Kane regardless of it’s relationship to Mank. It’s a great film.

I believe it has the potential to break the record of Oscar nominates and get 15 noms. However I am only predicting 14.
I am SO hyped for this film. Especially Seyfried’s performance and Reznor and Ross’s soundtrack.
