What categories do guys believe Mank will be nominated for?
I believe it has the potential to break the record of Oscar nominates and get 15 noms. However I am only predicting 14.
I am SO hyped for this film. Especially Seyfried’s performance and Reznor and Ross’s soundtrack.

ReplyCopy URLNovember 7, 2020 at 4:08 pm #1203822569Yeah I don’t think it can get 15. 14 at most, and that’s with 3 acting nominations and visual effects.
In terms of acting, I haven’t really heard much about Lily Collins. I mean, we know from the reviews that Oldman and Seyfried are getting nominated, and the rest of the men probably aren’t… what’s the word on Collins?

Yet Titanic has tied the record with a 75 metacritic score.

November 7, 2020 at 4:49 pm #1203822603It’ll do pretty well when it comes to noms. But passion will be an issue.

Metacritic wasn’t around in 1997

Best Director - Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Darius Marder (Sound of Metal)
Lead Actor - Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods), Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round), Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal)
Supporting Actor - Paul Raci (Sound of Metal)
Supporting Actress - Youn Yuh-jung (Minari)
November 8, 2020 at 9:21 am #1203823191I am hesitant to read reviews because I feel like they spoil my opinion of the movie by skewing it one way or the other, but what’s the deal with Charles Dance? People are saying he’s out of contention, but wasn’t his role supposed to be good? Even if he’s not outstanding or anything, if the role is important, he’s the likeliest bet is he not?

Titanic was a cultural phenomenon. Mank is not.

I think it’ll be nominated in Picture, Director, Actor, Supporting Actress, Screenplay, Editing, Cinematography, Costumes, Sound, Score, Makeup/ Hair and Production Design. It could also be nominated for Supporting Actor, but I’m not sure who.
Of those, I think it stands a good chance of winning quite a lot. I have it leading at the minute in Director, Supporting Actress, Cinematography, Editing and Production Design. I think it stands a strong chance in all those I’ve listed though, especially this year where rivals in the techs are harder to come by.

I have it in exactly the same categories. I don’t think it will get a supporting actor nomination, but I think I have it winning in screenplay besides those 5.

I could ask the same about Tom Burke, wasn’t he an early lock? I’ll watch the movie this weekend so can’t say about his performance.

I haven’t seen Mank yet, but I’m thinking that the BP winner is going to be News of the World.
